  The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

  Observation. June 9, 2026 - Discussion with Manager that the cubbies (over four feet) in one of the SA rooms are not secure to the floor. It is your responsibility to ensure furnishing are safe and sturdy. LO also observed that the baseboard heater in one of the small rooms within the same SA room are not secure as it is coming away from the wall. Other items noted appear to be corrected. January 14, 2026 - Within the SA space, LO observed that one of the baseboard heaters is coming away from the wall and in the other small room, there are wires coming out from the wall that are covered (hidden) by a cardboard box of storage items. The cubbies at the entrance (appear over 4 feet) are not secured to the walls, which could be a hazard.

  Observation. As noted above, there is a child who requires an Epi-Pen. While the staff were able to locate and bring the Epi-Pen to the same room the child was in, there was no care plan available. This care plan must be current and available to guide staff on what to do in case of emergency.

  Observation. A sampling of files were reviewed, LO noted that some are missing the following items - Emergency contact (in addition to parents), immunization status was not clear for a few children (forms partially completed or forms state status is attached - but no information is attached).

  Observation. LO observed that the licensee does not have written, parental consent to release a child to someone other than the parent for 1 child.

  Observation. LO reviewed all staff records and observed that a criminal record check has not been obtained for 2 staff.

  Education/Injury Prevention: Exposure to harmful UV rays is minimized by appropriate scheduling. [Director of Licensing Standard of Practice - Safe Play Space]

  Observation. LO observed that the entire outdoor play space is under direct sunlight posing a risk of exposure to harmful UV rays.

  Upon agreeing to administer medications, a competent employee is available at all times to administer and document administration of the medications. [CCLR Sec. 53(3)]

  Observation. LO observed that two children with life threatening allergies did not have on file a request for administration of medication form completed.

  Observation. LO observed that the facility does not appear to have adequate emergency supplies such as food and water rations for children up to 72 hours.

  Observation. LO observed that the EpiPen for one child expired in January 2022.

  Observation. LO observed a criminal record check has not been obtained for one staff.

  The entire outdoor play area is enclosed and constructed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and ensures that children are free of harm. [CCLR Sec. 16(3)(a)(b)]

  Observation. LO observed that a new climber and ground surfacing has been installed. The equipment has been purchased from outside the country and installed by the Licensee. Additional information about the equipment and installation has been requested to assess compliance.

  Observation. LO observed that the climber continues to appear in poor repair and the woodchips previously used as resilient surfacing around the climber have been removed. The Licensee stated that renovations for the play area will begin this week.
