    Observation. LO is aware that there is ongoing maintenance throughout the facility and previously noted items have been addressed. However, there are areas of the wooden equipment / furniture and walls that are in need of repair.

    The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

    Observation. Some of the flooring has been replaced and repaired throughout the facility, but there are still areas that are showing signs of lifting and bubbling. This has made the floor uneven and could cause tripping or other hazards. It was also noted that due to lack of storage, equipment, toys and supplies are stored in the rooms and are reducing usable floor space.

    Observation. LO observed that some of the wooden furniture is showing signs of the finish being worn off due to cleaning / natural use. Due to the items being made out of wood (which is porous), once the finish comes off, you are unable to clean or sanitize these items.

    Observation. The landscape maintenance will be an ongoing concern, as the trees and bushes grow quite fast, and continue to grow at the level of children's faces. This is a potential safety hazard. At todays visit, lo observed a few of the trees requiring trimming as they protrude into the children's bike path and/or obstruct view of children. If there are issues between the gardeners visits, it is up to the facility / staff to maintain the areas.

    Observation. Some of the cupboard were left unlatched in 2 of the rooms, they stored a variety of items (plastic bags, staff supplies, foam, etc.) that could be hazardous depending on the child.

    Observation. This has previously been noted, and while Manager stated that they are trimmed back regularly, it is important that staff in each of the outdoor spaces keep a log to track when branches imped into the play area and could be harmful to children.

    Observation. While the manager explained that there is an ongoing maintenance plan, there are areas that remain outstanding - such as the outdoor area (bushes and trees do not appear to be cut back) there are chips in the paint, broom and dust pans remain in the rooms.

    Observation. The manager explained that there is a maintenance program with a plan to paint walls. Other areas that LO noted at todays visit include - Edging on some of the cupboards is starting to peel, white shelving / art units in most rooms are showing wear and tear and the tops of some shelves have worn down to the particle board. The exposed particle board is concerning as it is unable to be disinfected. It was also noted that some of the wood fencing is loose and needs repairing.

    Observation. LO observed that the facility uses a Brita water filter pitcher to provide safe drinking water however the the seams around the pitcher appear to be soiled and contain debris.

    Observation. As observed during previous inspection visit, LO observed in the washrooms standing water around the handwashing sinks and countertops. In addition the cupboards under the sink in the washrooms appeared to be stained and dusty. This issue remains in non-compliance.

    Observation. As observed during previous inspection visit, LO observed cots and bedding including pillows touching which poses a risk of cross contamination. Discussion took place with regard to storage of the cots when not in use including how the bedding bags are stored. This issue remains in non-compliance.

    Observation. As observed during previous inspection visit, the following issues have been corrected. -outdoor play equipment such as the playhouse and mud kitchen appear soiled and dusty During the today's inspection visit, LO observed that the outdoor chain link fence appears to be in poor repair. The bottom piece along 3 panels has come loose posing a concern for entrapment.
