Observation. LO observed one of the rooms with a "Good Behaviour Chart", during discussion with Manager it was clarified that this does not meet the intent of dignity of a child. It is also concerning that this does not meet positive guidance standards.

The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction. They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]
Observation. There are areas that require attention - discolouration of areas in the bathrooms (walls, toilet seats, floors). It is important that staff are conducting regular checking for areas that may need repair or replacement. While LO is aware that there is a cleaning company that comes on site, it is still important that staff clean daily (as needed) to maintain a healthy and safe environment. Other items observed include clutter in areas of the rooms that take away from usable space, but also makes it hard to clean / disinfect. Some equipment in the outdoor space is showing wear and tear - peeling paint, varnish is coming away, base of wooden fence is showing rot, fence has areas that do not seem secure.

Observation. Children's records are available in each room. Upon sampling in three of the rooms, it was observed that the following items were not available - emergency contact (other than parent), Doctor information, Medical Insurance information that expired.

At all times children have immediate access to an employee who holds a valid first aid and CPR certificate, is knowledgeable respecting each child's medical condition, if any, and is capable of communicating with emergency personnel. [CCLR Sec. 23(1)]
Observation. During rooms visit, there was staff person who seemed unaware of children who had allergy or other medical concerns. It is important that all staff are knowledgeable regarding each child's medical condition / care plan.

It was not clear when the care plan was last reviewed as the date was smudged and the expiry date for the medication was dated October 2022. -care plan for a child with a life threatening allergy was incomplete
