- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Staff's open purse containing personal belongings was accessible to children in the cubby area. The manager asked the staff member to remove the purse out of children’s reach.
Corrective action. The Manager said staff will be reminded to store purses out of children’s reach.
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - MEDICATION
If a licensee has agreed with a parent to give a child any medication prescribed by a medical practitioner or provided by the parent, the licensee and his or her employees must ensure that the medication is (b) readily accessible to employees.
Observation. Medication required in a child's care plan had passed its expiration date.
Corrective action. Manager said that parent will be asked today to provide medication that is not expired.
16020 - CCLR s.53(1)(b) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.
Observation. One child's care plan was not reviewed annually with the parent.
Corrective action. The Manager said the care plan will be reviewed with the parent and the review date will be noted in the child’s file.

A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. Multiple sleeping mats had holes in them exposing foam.
Corrective action. Please ensure the mats are repaired or replaced.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.
Observation. Licensing reviewed 2 staff files and record of immunization status was missing for one of the staff.
Corrective action. Please obtain a record of the staff's immunization status.

A licensee must ensure that the policies and procedures referred to in subsection (1) are implemented by employees.
Observation. Upon inspection, Licensing observed that the outdoor away play space plan was not being implemented by employees.
Corrective action. Please ensure that policies and procedures are implemented by employees.

A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (c) the resources to be made available to the child requiring extra support by the licensee, including (i) any adaptation of the community care facility necessary to ensure the child's safety or comfort.
Observation. A child’s care plan indicates that medication is needed. However the facility does not have medication present and available. The Staff explained they were unaware that this children requires medication and will follow up with the parent.
Corrective action. Please ensure resources are made available to the child requiring extra support.

The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.
Observation. Upon review of care plans, one child's care plan was not reviewed annually with the parent. The staff explained that they are aware of the information included in the care plan and will follow up with the parent.

Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed the following: - Two electrical outlets in the play area were uncovered. - One blank wall plate cracked in several places.
Corrective action. Ensure that the facility is in good repair while children are in attendance.

A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (b) the courses of action recommended by health care professionals to address the needs of the child requiring extra support.
Observation. There is a child with additional needs who is missing a care plan. Staff were able to explain what is required to suppport the child but there isn't a plan written down for staff to follow. Staff mentioned at drop off time; staff could not locate the appropiate form for the parent to fill out.
Corrective action. Please ensure there is a care plan written and in place for each child who requires extra support.
