• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (b) character references in respect of the person.

  Observation. Licensing reviewed 3 staff files and one staff was missing record of 2 character references.

  Corrective action. The Manager said she will obtain 2 records of the staff's character references.

  Observation. A record of one staff's work history was not obtained.

  Corrective action. The Manager advised she will obtain a record of their resume.

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.

  Observation. A record of immunization status was not obtained for 2 staff.

  Corrective action. The Manager advised she will obtain a record of the staff's immunization status.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

  Observation. One staff was missing a record of their criminal record check (CRC) through the criminal record review program (CRRP). The staff has a CRC on file from the RCMP.

  Corrective action. The Manager advised that the staff will apply for their CRC through the CRRP.

• POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

  A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

  Observation. Upon inspection, Licensing observed that the fire extinguisher has not been serviced annually. The Manager indicated that it was serviced, but there may have been an error on the tag provided with the date.

  Corrective action. Please ensure fire extinguishers are serviced annually.
