    Observation. Licensing reviewed 3 staff files and ones staff's Criminal Record Check (CRC) was not site specific. Also, one individuals CRC expired in Oct of this year.

    Observation. Upon inspection, Licensing observed three shelves that were not secured posing a fall hazard. The Manager explained she is aware and in the process of purchasing items to secure the shelving.

    A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

    Observation. Upon inspection, Licensing observed diaper cream accessible to children in the bathroom. Manager stated she was not aware this should be inaccessible to children.

    A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.

    Observation. Upon review of daily attendance records for months of November and December 2021, it was noted that on 3 occasions, there were no records indicating absence/arrival/departure times of children. Manager stated it was not recorded on those days as those mornings were busy. Licensing provided education on having a system that records are maintained at all times.

    Corrective action. Ensure a record showing absence/arrival/departure times of children are maintained and available at all times.

    A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)

    Observation. Licensing reviewed two staff files and observed two staff certificates were not validated through the Early Childhood Educator Registry. Manager was not aware that certificates need to be validated. Licensing provided education on validating certificates.

    Corrective action. Ensure ECE certificates are verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry.
