  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

Observation. The Licensing Officer noted that the cupboard with bins of outdoor equipment is full and children were experiencing challenges in finding items in the bin. There are various built in shelves and they are full of equipment and children's projects. The program would benefit from additional shelves to allow children easier access to the items. The Manager said the white shelf is beginning to show signs of wear the and play stove is no longer being used by the children. The Manager indicated that the stove would be distributed to another program within the organization which will give the children some extra space in the program.

Corrective action. A written action plan is required as to how the Licensee will address the issue of storage and access of equipment for the children.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

Observation. The program has 3 large blue tables located in the portable. The tables are showing signs of wear with the top material of the table being worn away exposing pressboard. The pressboard is made of porous material therefore it is no longer cleanable.

Corrective action. The tables will need to be repaired or replaced in a manner that the tables are cleanable. The Licensee must submit a written action plan as to when the scope of work will be completed. This action plan, including date of when work will be completed is to be submitted to Licensing by March 2, 2020.
