  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. In the 3-5 outdoor area, there are multiple dips on the dirt pathway accessible to children that presents a tripping hazard. As per the manager, staff have been reminded to fill the dips.

    Corrective action. The manager said that the program will ensure that the dirt pathway is levelled. Please submit a plan to Licensing outlining how the dips will be addressed and maintained.

  • MEDICATION

    If a licensee has agreed with a parent to give a child any medication prescribed by a medical practitioner or provided by the parent, the licensee and his or her employees must ensure that the medication is (b) readily accessible to employees.

    Observation. Expired emergency medication for 1 child.

    Corrective action. The manager will connect with the parents to obtain current medication. In the meantime, the old medication will be kept on-site until it is replaced.

  • RECORDS AND REPORTING

    The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.

    Observation. 3 care plans have not been annually reviewed.

    Corrective action. The manager will follow up with the parents to review the care plans. If any information has changed, then a new care plan will be completed. If information remains the same, then the parents' signature and date of reviewed will be documented on the care plan.

  • STAFFING

    A licensee must ensure that each employee (a) is trained in the implementation of the fire drill system and emergency plan described in subsection (1), including the use of any equipment noted in the fire drill system and emergency plan.

    Observation. Both fire extinguishers are overdue for servicing.

    Corrective action. Please ensure fire extinguishers are serviced annually.

    A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): In one of the children's bathroom stalls (3-5 program), an opened bottle of cleaning solution was observed Upon notifying the Manager, this was removed and placed elsewhere that is not accessible to children. Corrected During Inspection.

    Corrective action. Please ensure hazardous substances are not accessible to children.

    Observation. There has been a new manager hired for the facility, but the previous manager's name is still reflected in the facility and in Licensing's files.
