- STAFFING
A licensee must ensure that each employee (a) is trained in the implementation of the fire drill system and emergency plan described in subsection (1), including the use of any equipment noted in the fire drill system and emergency plan.
Observation. The tag attached to the fire extinguisher indicates that it is overdue for servicing. Licensing observed that the arrow was in the green zone. The staff said that the fire extinguisher was taken for servicing back in August 2025.
Corrective action. Please ensure the tag attached to the fire extinguisher is current.

- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that all indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are (b) safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair.
Observation. In the outdoor area, the following was observed: -multiple pieces of loose fabric material, plastic, and paper -a broken broom -1 tub of dirty water with moss As per the Manager, this area (wood chip area) was being used by older children and children that can walk during snowy and rainy weather and the deck was being used by younger children who are crawling. On the outdoor deck, there are 2 gaps at the base of 2 wooden pillars. 1 gap is addressed by a piece of wood, but the wood is not levelled. The gaps and unlevelled wood present a tripping hazard to children.
Corrective action. The Manager will work towards addressing these 2 gaps and will ensure that both areas (deck and wood chip area) are in clean and good repair.

A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation. Expired food items in 2 children's earthquake kits. Licensing and the Manager discussed the facility's system to ensure emergency food and supplies are replenished appropriately. As per the Manager, 1 of the 2 children's last month is this month.
Corrective action. The Manager will follow up with the families to replace these expired food items.
13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (h) any special instruction respecting the child's diet, medication, participation in a program of activities, or other matter relevant to the child's care, (i) given by the child's parent to the licensee in writing.
Observation. 2 children with listed allergies (both suspected allergies). As per the Manager and staff, parents of both children relayed that the allergies are not confirmed and not applicable. During the inspection, 1 of the children was picked up early and the parent revised the registration form to indicate no allergy and signed by the parent.
Corrective action. The Manager will have the remaining child's parents revise the registration form with updated information pertaining the suspected allergy that is currently listed on the registration form.

- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): During the inspection it was observed that one staff changed the diaper of a few children without sanitizing the change mat in between changing the children.
Corrective action. Please ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times.
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. During the inspection of the physical facility the following was observed: - the landscape fabric from under the wood chips on the playground was showing. The fabric poses a tripping hazard to children and staff. - there resilient surface (wood chips) is not sufficient to prevent a child from hurting themselves.
Corrective action. Please ensure the facility is in good repair while children are in attendance.
11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE
A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.
Observation. During the inspection the following was observed: - a staff changed the diaper of few children and did not was the child's hands after changing the child - staff did not wash her own hands after changing the child. Staff changed gloves in between changes - children were observed being put in a high chair, after waking up from nap time. Hand washing was not observed before children started eating their snack.
Corrective action. Please ensure children and staff practice the rules of health and hygiene.

Observation. During the inspection 8 random children's files were reviewed and one child file was missing documentation of gender.

Observation. Licensing observed the following inside the facility: -a toilet brush in the washroom. Some of the children are still crawling and may acces the toilet brush. -one of the doors in the playroom was unlocked. A kitchen was accessible. -a electrical outlet cover was missing

A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation. Licensing observed rust on an exterior fence. Options for repairing the fencing were discussed. Rust can cause a potential health hazard. This is a repeat contravention from inspection #CLAN-BKP2AW.

A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. Licensing observed the following inside the facility: -Foam mats located on the floor had several puncture marks. These puncture marks could harbour bacteria. This is a repeat contravention from inspection # CLAN-B9KRVY. - paint chips were noted on the baseboards and some of the walls. This is a repeat contravention from inspection # CLAN-BKP2AW

A licensee must have all of the following: (b) an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation. During the inspection the policies and procedures were reviewed. An emergency plan was not present. In addition the fire extinguisher was expired. It was noted that the fire extinguisher was within the area of fully charged.
Corrective action. Please ensure an emergency plan is created that sets out procedures to: prepare, mitigate, respond and recover in the event of an emergency. Please ensure the plan is available at the facility for staff and licensing to review. In addition please ensure the fire extinguisher is serviced on an annual basis to be prepared in an emergency.

Observation. Five children's records of seven were reviewed. One child was missing an emergency contact.

Observation. During the inspection the following was observed in the facility: -paint chips on the walls and the tables and shelves The following was observed outside the facility: -paint was peeling from the play equipment -some of the wood in the play area was damaged and could cause a splintering hazard
Corrective action. Please ensure the facility is in good repair.
