    Observation. Two employee certificates have not been verified by the director of the early childhood educator registry. Verification of a certificate ensures that employee is qualified with the training necessary to care for children. Submit by October 31, 2025, evidence that the two certificates have been verified.

  • C7.1 - Is the facility safe, sanitary, free from hazards, in good repair, and appropriate for the age and development of children?Non-critical

    Observation. A bottle of disinfectant was on a counter which was accessible to children. This was corrected during the inspection with the bottle being placed in a higher cupboard out of children's access.

  • C4.1 - Are facility records current and complete?Non-critical

    Observation. All children's records do not contain written consent from a parent to call a medical practitioner or an ambulance. In the event of an emergency where a parent or emergency contact cannot be reached, written consent is required for the facility to be able to call a medical practitioner or an ambulance. Submit by October 31, 2025, evidence that written consent has been obtained. All children's records do not contain identifying physical characteristics. Physical characteristics of a child can be used to readily identify the child in an emergency. Submit by October 31, 2025, evidence that all children's files contain the required information.

  • C3.1 - Does the facility have sufficient employees who possess adequate training and experience to meet the care, supervision, and needs of the children?Non-critical

    Observation. One employee record does not contain the required character references and record of the person's work history. A person must not be employed unless the licensee has obtained character references and work history to ensure the person is suitable and has the training and experience to work with children. Submit by October 29, 2025, evidence that the record is complete.

  • C2.1 - Are written policies and procedures in place to guide employees in all matters regarding the care and supervision of children?Non-critical

    Observation. There is no evidence indicating the employees have practiced implementing the emergency plan in the last year. Implementing the plan at least once each year ensures employees know what is expected of them in the event of an emergency. Submit by November 4, 2025, evidence that each employee has implemented the emergency plan.

    Observation. Two staff files are missing certificate verification under a system established and maintained by the director of the early childhood educator registry.

  • C7.1 - Is the facility safe, sanitary, free from hazards, in good repair, and appropriate for the age and development of children?Non-critical

    Observation. The facility has a system in place to ensure proper temperature for food storage, however, high fridge temperatures are being recorded. Licensing observed the following objects and substances accessible to children: - a tub of bleach water on a counter - scissors on a counter and in an unlocked cupboard, also in the unlocked cupboard was an exacto knife, and thumb tacks Thorough daily, monthly and annual play space inspections are not being performed. The protective surfacing depth is not being checked regularly and is the ground is showing through.

  • C6.1 - Are acceptable hygiene practices maintained?Non-critical

    Observation. Licensing observed non single use hand towels, to dry children's hands, hanging on hooks touching each other.

  • C9.1 - Are there plans and actions in place to ensure medications are stored and administered properly?Non-critical

    Observation. Licensing was informed that a child requiring the use of a puffer does not have a medication form completed with directions to administer by the child's parent on file.

  • C3.1 - Does the facility have sufficient employees who possess adequate training and experience to meet the care, supervision, and needs of the children?Non-critical

    Observation. The Licensee’s system for ensuring that employee files contain all of the legislated requirements appears to be ineffective. 10 employee files were reviewed and the following were found to be missing: - Four files did not have criminal record checks completed by the Criminal Record Review Program. - Four files did not have copies of any diplomas, certificates or other evidence of the person's training and skills. - Four files did not have evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs. It was confirmed that one staff working does not have a staff file. Staff files failing to contain all of the legislated requirements is a reoccurring contravention originally found out of compliance on October 18, 2021 and December 12, 2022.

A review of the children's records found the following were missing from several children's records: - medical insurance plan numbers, medical practitioner name and medical practitioner phone numbers A review of the daily attendance indicated several missing departure times. There were no photos of children to be used to readily identify a child in an emergency.

    Observation. The facility has a system in place to ensure proper temperature for food storage, however, high temperatures being recorded.

    Observation. A review of the child records revealed the following missing items: - the date on which the child stops attending the community care facility - a record of any person who is not permitted access to the child A review of the daily attendance records revealed children's departure times, from group child care to the after care program, were not recorded. A child requiring extra support is missing a care plan.

    Observation. Upon a review of a sampling of employee records it was noted that two required evidence of references being checked, and one also required evidence of the Ministry CRC application having been submitted and immunization status. All records reviewed reflected adequate training and experience.

  • C7.1 - Is the facility safe, sanitary, free from hazards, in good repair, and appropriate for the age and development of children?Non-critical

    Observation. The physical site appears to be safe and sanitary. Materials and equipment appear to be in good repair and appropriate to the age and developmental levels of children in care in the individual service types. Upon inspection the hot water was found to exceed 49 degrees Celsius. To reduce risk of scalding injury, please ensure the temperature is lowered to 49 degrees or less at sinks accessible to children in care. Licensing acknowledges that the Manager stated during inspection that the temperature had been adjusted earlier in the day, so temperature may regulate to below maximum requirement within 24 hours. Please notify Licensing when temperature is at or below 49 degrees Celsius.
