    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. Multiple gaps between the rubber tiles were observed in the outdoor playground. Manager said that she had recently washed the tiles, which is why the tiles were out of line.

    Corrective action. Manager will install tile lock to secure the tiles and close up the gaps

    Observation. An application for a criminal record check for one staff has not been submitted. The manager said as the facility does not have an account ID she is unable to apply for the record. She said the staff will book an appointment at the CCFL office to submit the application.

    Corrective action. Please ensure all staff have a valid criminal record check before they start work.

    Observation. The manager stated the ECE Certificate for one staff expired in January 2021. The staff has applied to renew the certificate although a current certificate has not been issued yet. CCFL explained that without a valid certificate this staff person is not qualified to work as an ECE.

    Corrective action. The second staff working in this program must be an ECE. The manager stated she will apply for a staffing exemption to allow the staff to work as an ECE until the new certificate is obtained.
