• MEDICATION

  If a licensee has agreed with a parent to give a child any medication prescribed by a medical practitioner or provided by the parent, the licensee and his or her employees must ensure that the medication is (b) readily accessible to employees.

  Observation. Licensing observed the following: - EpiPen has expired and was returned to the parents prior to receiving a replacement. Manager informed Licensing that the parents said the child might not need an EpiPen anymore. Pending confirmation from the doctor. - Medication was expired for one of the children.

  Corrective action. Manager will obtain confirmation from parents and ensure that medications are readily accessible for the children.

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (h) any special instruction respecting the child's diet, medication, participation in a program of activities, or other matter relevant to the child's care, (i) given by the child's parent to the licensee in writing.

  Observation. Reviewed six children's file, and one of the children's files were missing information to guide and direct staff actions when children are showing allergy symptoms

  Corrective action. Mnaager will ensure that instructions are obtained from the parents.

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

  Observation. Licensing observed the following: -Loose cords -The door to the staff washroom was open. Several chemicals were observed on the ground -Staff bags in the office were on the ground. These were accessible to the children and could contain potential hazards. -Rust was observed in the outdoor play area on the bolts and plates that attach the fencing. Rust can present a potential health hazard. Please correct by June 10, 2024

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

  Observation. The staff records were reviewed. Two staff records were missing site specific criminal record checks.

  Observation. the bar above the slide is rusty with peeling paint

  Corrective action. please ensure the bar is repaired

  A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

  Observation. Licensing observed a metal table with rust located outdoors upon entering the outdoor play area, which was accessible to children.

  Corrective action. Ensure the metal table with rust is not accessible to children.
