    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. There are areas on walls with food stains, dents that expose the drywall and areas of chipped paint

    A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.

    Observation. [CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION] It was observed that teachers did not instruct children to wash their hands after diaper change

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following in the facility: -One loose cord in the nap room and one loose cord hanging from the counter. These could present a potential hazard. -A bottle of disinfectant was on the floor of the shower and the door to the shower was easy to open. This could present a potential hazard.

    A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.

    Observation. Immunization status was not obtained for one employee.

    A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry.     Observation. Licensing observed the staff records. One staff record was missing a verification from the ECE registry.

  • STAFFING

    Despite the employee qualifications required by Column 4 of the table in section 1 of Schedule E [group sizes and employee to children ratios], a licensee must replace an absent employee described in Column 1 of the following table who is absent (b) for 30 consecutive days or more with a person described in Column 3 opposite that employee and the row in Column 2 labelled as "≥ 30 days".

    Observation. During the inspection Licensing observed that the Manager was not present during the inspection. In discussion with the staff the Manager is on leave, is out of the country and has been away for over 30 days.

    Corrective action. The staff stated that the Director is in the process of appointing another Manager
