- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. The following was observed: -The cover for the sanbox contained mold or other organic matter in the folds of the fabric.
Corrective action. In discussion the Manager explained that another cover for the sandbox is on order and that the fabric cover is placed over the sanbox each night.
11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. The following was observed: -A sanbox lid was leaning against the fence -The front door was left propped open for a 2 minute period. The door leads directly into the parking lot. This was corrected during the inspection. -Furniture abutted the fencing making this easy to climb over the lower fence
Corrective action. The Manager had a discussion with the staff about the items in the outdoor play area.

A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation. -A cord from a portable stereo was not secured. Corrected during inspection -An electrical outlet was not covered. -Rust was observed on a hinge in the outdoor play area. This is a repeat contravention from inspection #CLAN-DADU5X
Corrective action. The Manager explained a handyman has been called to fix the items

A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. During the inspection Licensing observed the following: -A sandbox cover was broken in one area and has not been repaired for the past few months -A play pen had a hole in the mesh fabric. This must be removed by October 25, 2024. -Rips were observed on mats and large foam blocks. The foam was exposed in some areas

A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation. Licensing observed several chemicals and wipes such as bleach and bottles with bleach and water located in cupboards that were accessible to children in care. In addition, rusty hinges and locks were observed in the classroom and outdoor area.

A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility the certificate, or a copy of the certificate, of any educator or assistant employed to work in the community care facility. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): During the inspection Licensing observed one staff certificate was not posted for a staff working in the facility. This was corrected during the inspection.

A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed that the metal plug prongs of the electrical cord (unplugged) of the children's light table was within reach of children in an area in the classroom where they would typically play and do activities. During the inspection, the manager corrected this by placing and storing the cord under the table.
Corrective action. Ensure children do not have access to any objects that may be hazardous to their health or safety.

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed in the Infant and Toddler room that there was a holiday decor wiring connected to the electrical outlet, which poses as a tripping hazard and was accessible to children.
Corrective action. Ensure wires are not a tripping hazard and not accessible to children.

A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed liquid cleaning detergent under the sink in the 3-5 bathroom which was accessible to children.
Corrective action. Ensure that the liquid cleaning detergent substance is stored in an area that is not accessible to children.
11200 - CCLR s.17 - HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE
A licensee, other than a licensee who provides a care program described as either Preschool (30 Months to School Age) or Group Child Care (School Age), must have in a community care facility a sturdy surface for changing diapers, located outside the food preparation area, next to (a) a covered container for soiled clothing. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed a soiled diaper in the 3-5 bathroom thrown in a garbage container bin that was not covered by a lid.
Corrective action. Ensure that soiled diapers are thrown in a covered container.

Observation. Licensing reviewed the children's files and observed that the start date of one child was not noted on file.

- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): - Changing Pad for diapering has 2 small rips. Manager purchased a new changing pad the same day. - Outdoor Ride on toys and play equipment need cleaning. Manager stated that all outdoor cleaning will be done by Friday April 24, 2020.
Corrective action. Please ensure that all furniture and equipment are clean and in good repair.

The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.
Observation. 2 children's care plans were reviewed; both need to be reviewed with the parent yearly and to be updated with any new and/or additional information ( if any).
Corrective action. Please ensure all children's files are complete.
