A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

Observation. During the inspection Licensing observed the following: -In the outdoor play area a piece of wood was propped against the house.This could present a potential falling hazard -The garbage in the washroom (corrected during inspection) and the cubby area was accessible to children - An electrical outlet was missing a plug cover (corrected during inspection) -Rust was observed on the screen door of the facility. This could present a potential hazard -A child has allergies to two food items. This should be posted in the facility

A licensee must ensure that the entire outdoor play area is (a) enclosed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and will ensure that children are free of harm.

Observation. Licensing observed that an area of the outdoor play area was not enclosed and may present a potential escape hazard. This is a concern as beyond the outdoor play area is a drop off. Please provide active supervision in this area until it is corrected

A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

Observation. Licensing observed the following during the inspection: -A cord was hanging at the children's level in the nap room. This could present a potential hazard -A hose in the outdoor play area was located at the children's level. This could present a potential hazard -Personal products were located on a shelf accessible to children -Diaper cream was located at the children's level. This could present a poisoning hazard. This was corrected during the inspection -A sharp wire was sticking out of the wall near the entrance. This could cause a potential puncture hazard. This was removed -Plastic gloves were observed in the cubby area. This was corrected

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): laundry soap was accessible to the children

Corrective action. fixed at time of inspection

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (k) the date on which the child stops attending the community care facility.

Observation. end date of enrollment not available

Corrective action. please ensure dates that the child stops attending is documented on registration forms

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

Observation. there are areas on the wall that are chipped and the gyprock exposed

Corrective action. please ensure these areas are repaired or made inaccesible to the children

A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility both the licence, including any terms or conditions of the licence, and the name of the manager. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed that the manager's name was not displayed in the facility.

Corrective action. Ensure that the manager's name is displayed in a prominent place in the facility.

A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment]. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed that the annual emergency drills were not recorded.

Corrective action. Ensure that the annual emergency drills are recorded and on file. This item was identified and contravened on Nov. 27, 2019 on routine inspection report #KSEY-BJBPXK. During inspection, the facility recorded and placed on file the emergency drills that were previously completed.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): During inspection, licensing observed that one child was not signed in on the attendance sheet.

Corrective action. Ensure that children are signed in on the attendance sheet upon their arrival.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.

Observation. Licensing reviewed the children's files and observed that one child was missing their emergency contacts. This item was identified and contravened on June 04, 2021 on routine inspection report #MZIN-C3NU9V.

Corrective action. Ensure that the child's emergency contacts are included on file.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

Observation. Licensing reviewed the staff files, and noted that one staff's criminal record check has expired.

Corrective action. Ensure that the staff's criminal record check is renewed and updated, and included on file.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation) Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): During inspection, Licensing noted that two staff did not have on file their certificate validation.

Corrective action. Ensure that staff certificates are validated, and the validation record should be included on file.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.

Observation. Immunization status was not obtained for two employees.

Corrective action. Ensure that the immunization status for all employees are included on file.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.

Observation. Licensing randomly reviewed 4 children's files and noted that 1 child was missing emergency contacts on file.

Corrective action. Please ensure emergency contacts are on file.
