    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. During the inspection Licensing observed rust on the fencing in the outdoor play area. Rust may present a potential hazard

    Corrective action. In discussion with the Manager options for covering the rust were discussed. Please provide active supervision in the area until this is corrected. The Manager said she will complete this on Saturday or Sunday.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must supply equipment, furniture and supplies that are (b) located so as not to block or hamper an exit in the case of fire or other emergency. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed the following: -A large board, with wheels, was placed in front of the emergency exit. The wheels were locked and this was difficult to move. -Plastic chains and tall pylons were observed in front of the door to the facility. If children and adults need to evacuate during an emergency, this could cause a potential hazard.

    Corrective action. Please ensure to keep exits and entryways clear to be prepared in case of emergency..

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

    Observation. The following was observed during the inspection: -A bag of safety salt was open and located behind a closed door. The open bag was located at the children's level. On the bag it read, "keep out of reach of children". The door was not locked. This was corrected during the inspection -Grapes were given to the children at snack time. The grapes were served whole. This could cause a potential choking hazard

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed the following during the inspection: -A loose cord was located at the children's level. This was corrected during the inspection -Two cleaning products were located in two separate cupboards. Locks were observed on the cabinets but these were not applied. This was corrected during the inspection -A rusty fence was observed in the outdoor play area. Rust could cause a potential health hazard. This was corrected during the inspection.

    A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed a yellow bin used for cleaning mops inside the staff washroom near the door, which was filled with water. Although the manager said this washroom is not used by children, the door was wide open and was easily accessible to children during the inspection.

    Corrective action. Ensure that the facility is free of any potential hazards or safety concerns for children.

Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): During the inspection, the manager said that although the emergency drill was completed for 2023, it was not recorded.

    Corrective action. Ensure to keep a record with the full date of when the facility completed the emergency drill with children.

    Observation. Licensing observed the outdoor play area and noted that the metal wire of the fence which was within reach of children, were rusted in various places and wobbly. During the inspection, it was said by the facility that this will soon be fixed.

    Observation. Licensing reviewed the children's files and observed that two children did not have their emergency contacts listed. During the inspection, the manager said that they will talk to the families to ensure the emergency contacts are listed and on file.

    Corrective action. Ensure that the emergency contacts (name and phone number) are listed and included in the children's file in case of emergency.
