  Observation. The door to a maintenance room on the main floor was unlocked and accessible to children.

• C2.1 - Are written policies and procedures in place to guide employees in all matters regarding the care and supervision of children?Non-critical

  Observation. C2.1G - Regulation 56(1)(d) - The complainant alleged that a staff was not following the employee cell phone policy and distracted. Through the gathering of information licensing has found this allegation substantiated. The facility has a policy in place to guide employees around personal cell phone use however it was not being followed by a staff. The facility manager has taken corrective action. Licensing has requested and received the revised personal mobile devices policy and an email thread sent to all staff advising of the revised policy.

  Observation. Snacks provided appear to be healthy and nutritious as per the Canada Food guide but, in some groups, not all snacks provided are recorded for parents to see.

• C7.1 - Is the facility safe, sanitary, free from hazards, in good repair, and appropriate for the age and development of children?Non-critical

  Observation. Items (sun block and diaper cream) labelled keep out of reach of children accessible to children in care. -Facility, equipment, furnishings and toys appear to be in good repair, safe, clean and age/developmentally appropriate. -A discussion was had about checking manufacturers recommendation for integrity of product and replacement/repair requirements for mats used in gymnasium as they are starting to deteriorate. -Due to snow coverage of resilient material in play space depth could not be assessed.
