Observation. For short periods during the day children are combined in the “fun zone” and then split into separate care programs. On several occasions the combined number of children being provided with care in the fun zone is more than 25 children aged 30 months to school age. The licence is approved to operate Group Child Care 30 months – School Age, with a capacity of 16 and 18 children. Submit by December 09, 2025, confirmation that children are supervised in the approved care programs.

Observation. Child records were reviewed. Several children are missing required information such as medical insurance number, name and contact details of a medical practitioner, start date, and name and number of emergency contact. The Licensee is required to have complete records for each child. Submit by December 11, 2025, confirmation that the missing information has been added to each child’s record. Consent to contact a medical practitioner or ambulance in an emergency is missing for two children. The Licensee must have written consent to contact a medical practitioner in an emergency. Submit by December 11, 2025, confirmation that the missing consents have been added to the children’s records.

Observation. The fire drill practice log was reviewed. The fire drill was not practiced in the month of November. All employees must practice the fire drill at least monthly. Submit by December 11, 2025, written confirmation the fire drill will be practiced monthly.
- C7.1 - Is the facility safe, sanitary, free from hazards, in good repair, and appropriate for the age and development of children?Non-critical
Observation. A heater was located on a desk in a classroom and was accessible to children. The metal grate on the heater was very hot and posed a burn risk to children. Children must not have access to objects that are hazardous to their safety. The Manager turned off and relocated the heater during the inspection. Two storage rooms containing paint and cleaning products were unlocked and accessible to children. Children must not have access to objects or substances that are hazardous to their health. The Manager locked both rooms during the inspection. The hot water was tested and is 53.3 degrees Celsius. Hot water over 49 degrees Celsius poses a scalding risk to children. Submit by December 09, 2025, confirmation that children no longer have access to water over 49 degrees Celsius.

Observation. At the time of the inspection, an educator's certificate was not posted in the facility. Ensure educator's and assistant's certificates are displayed in the facility at a prominent place.

Observation. - Upon reviewing children's records, one was found to be missing information regarding the name and telephone number of child's medical practitioner or applicable clinic. Ensure children's records are kept current and complete. - Child records were also missing photographs or digital images of children in care. Ensure a photograph or digital image of each child is kept which can be used to readily identify child in emergencies.

Observation. The Licensee is operating five preschool programs and three Group Child Care (30m-School Age) programs. This is different to the description of care program approved in July 2019. The Licensee did not immediately notify Licensing of the change to care programs.

Observation. Only one staff person had evidence that their certificate to practice had been validated through the BC Early Childhood Educator registry.

Observation. A staff person, who appeared to be working on their own with a group of Preschool children, did not meet the requirements of Sch E.

Observation. A door leading to a basement level was unlocked and therefore accessible to children. Expired asthma medication was being kept in the bag taken while off-site.
