Observation. - The cupboard under the sink in the kitchen was unlocked and cleaning products (i.e. Dynaquat, dish tabs, Finish dishwasher rinse) were accessible to children. This poses a safety risk for children. Ensure cleaning products are not accessible. - An electrical outlet was uncovered beside a rest mat in the quiet room. This poses a potential safety risk for children (i.e. burn/shock). Ensure unused outlets are covered or inaccessible.

Observation. An epi-pen that is kept on-site for a child with a medical condition has expired. Expired medication may not be effective which poses a risk in the event of an emergency. Develop a system to ensure expiry dates are monitored so that children have access to safe medication in the event it is required.

Observation. At the time of the inspection, Licensing observed that the facility is only operating with one program i.e. Group Child Care - School Age with total 24 children in the group. Licensing has not received notification of change to Schedule B.

Observation. Licensing observed expired medication such as a prescribed Epipen for a child with allergies, and polysporin ointment in First Aid kit.

Observation. Licensing observed the following: • Employee records are missing evidence of work history, Criminal Record Check clearance, and compliance with Province's immunization tuberculosis control program. • There are incomplete records indicating that each employee practiced the fire drill system at least once a month. • There is no evidence indicating that each employee practiced emergency plan at least once a year.

Observation. Children's care plans are missing information regarding how goals and/or effectiveness of the plan are being met.

Observation. Licensing observed the following: • A broken cupboard door handle in the upstairs Group Child Care School Age space, posing a potential risk of injury to children. • Walls in the Group Child Care School age space have chipped, peeling, and patched paint. • Play mats used by children in the gymnasium are torn and in poor repair. • Food surfaces are not appropriately cleaned by using soapy water to wash before sanitizing. • Daily Play-ground inspections log is incomplete. • Protective surfacing used in the outdoor play space is uneven potentially causing tripping hazard. There is also a hole in the protective surfacing which poses a potential fall or tripping hazard.

Observation. A section of the wall near the toilet in one of the bathrooms in the downstairs school age child care space has been patched but has not been painted. The surface is not smooth and cannot be properly cleaned. The counter of the handwashing sink in the "boot room" of the downstairs school age child care space has a chipped/broken piece which exposes a sharp edge of laminate countertop. This poses a potential risk for injury to children. Several hooks in the "boot room" of the downstairs school age child care space are broken, exposing sharp metal edges which pose potential risk for injury.
