Observation. Manager informs that the writing has been completed for all additional policies and procedures, and the document is currently in queue to be formatted and printed. The document will be electronically sent out to all families once ready.

Information on the food and drink given to children is made available to parents. [CCLR Sec. 48(6)]

A healthy and safe environment is provided at all times [CCLR Sec. 13(1)].

Observation. Licensing observed soap water and bleach solution available for cleaning and sanitizing in the activity area and kitchen area. Bleach solution is available in the children's washroom for sanitizing, however, no soap water bottle is observed. - A reminder to keep the gate closed in between the kitchen/hallway area and main activity area. Manager informs that children do not access this space other than with another adult to go into the smaller rooms with support worker. - A recommendation for the refrigerator thermometer to be placed at the back of the fridge, as the temperature can be less accurate when placed on the door which is frequently being opened.

Observation. Licensing and Manager could not locate the Care & Supervision Policy, and the Active Play and Screen Time Policy. Electronic resources are provided as requested.

There is an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency. [CCLR Sec. 22(1)(b)]

Observation. Manager informs that comfort kits are available for all children at the facility, however, the existing emergency food and water have expired. Manager is planning to purchase individual backpack kits for each child to combine with their personal comfort kits, and is currently working on the purchase. Licensing observed fire extinguisher to be current in its servicing.

The licensee keeps a current record for each child showing the information required. [CCLR Sec. 57]

Observation. Licensing observed one child to be missing medical insurance information.

Maintenance of Equipment: A log is kept of all inspections, maintenance and repairs. [Director of Licensing Standard of Practice - Safe Play Space]

Observation. Daily inspections of the outdoor area is being completed, however, not recorded.

Observation. *The side gate to the loft was observed to be unlatched creating potential for a child to fall out onto bare floor with no resilient cover. (This item was corrected by LO during inspection) *The door to the janitor/laundry room was open allowing children access to tools, cleansers and chemicals. *The staff room door was open providing access to tipping hazards such as stacked up chairs and shelves piled high with equipment and supplies. *CCFL observed a build up of equipment, materials and supplies on the tops of many surfaces including shelves, cubbies and the staff area located in the main activity area. While not currently in non-compliance, please keep an eye on this situation so that it does not become a tipping hazard. *A tall unsecured 5 drawer dresser was observed in the main room next to the front office door. This creates a potential tipping hazard should a child open all drawers at once or attempt to climb this item.

Medications that staff have agreed to administer are readily accessible to staff and are administered in the correct dosage at the correct times. [CCLR Sec. 53(1)]

Observation. *Two asthma medications were observed to be expired in November of 2021.

The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

Observation. *CCFL observed a loose and accessible cord to the hepa filter in the main playroom. *The string lights in the loft are hanging down creating a loop which poses the possibility of entanglement. *The kitchen gate was observed to be open allowing children access to cleaning products and other potentially hazardous items that may be contained in Educators' personal belongings in the staff room.

Hazardous objects and substances are inaccessible to children. [CCLR Sec 17]

Observation. *CCFL observed some ant traps located on the floor of the main activity areas.

For each child requiring extra support, the licensee keeps a current care plan showing the required information. [CCLR Sec. 58(1)(2)]

Observation. *Two children requiring asthma inhalers do not have a care plan in place.

A healthy and safe environment is provided at all times [CCLR Sec. 13(1)].

Observation. *Licensing observed various cords in the nap room that were hanging down loose and accessible to children. This is an entanglement risk. *The fan cord in the gross motor room was observed to be loose and accessible to children. *The storage area beneath the loft was observed to be unlocked and accessible to children

All indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are suitable for the age and development of the children, safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair. [CCLR Sec. 16(4)]

Observation. *The wooden beams on the monkey bar structure have deteriorated and are shedding splinters. *The sandbox cover is collapsed and rotting from moisture and as a result the sand beneath has also become compromised. *The wooden beams on the small climber have deteriorated and as a result they are shedding splinters

Ground Surfacing: The depth of loose fill material (protective surfacing) meets or exceeds the minimum requirements of the Standard of Practice. [Director of Licensing Standard of Practice - Safe Play Space]

Observation. *The resilient ground surfacing is in need of replacing. The wood chips appear to be deteriorating.

The licensee keeps a current record for each child showing the information required. [CCLR Sec. 57]

Observation. *Licensing observed one child's file listed the parents as emergency contacts.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the licensee using a system established and maintained by the director of the early childhood educator registry [CCLR Sec. 19(4)(a)]

Observation. *The Educators credentials have not been verified.
