    Observation. Licensing observed the following: - Second gate at the entrance was not engaged. A reminder to keep this gate in use at all times, as a part of a previously developed action plan. - Two soiled diapers were placed on a ledge in the outdoor play space, within reach of children.

    The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

    Observation. Licensing observed the following: - A bifold door near the entrance is broken, and cannot be closed or locked properly. - Two bifold doors on the far inside of the facility did not have bifold restrictors in place, and can be a pinching hazard. - The door to a stairway leading upstairs was left open. A reminder to keep this door closed.

    There is an established program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene. [CCLR Sec. 46(1)]

    Observation. *The bleach spray bottle in the main activity room was completely dry and did not appear to be in regular use. Fresh bleach spray should be mixed everyday and used for disinfecting surfaces. *CCFL observed a used washcloth over the faucets in the children's washroom and also at the art sink that appear to be being used for drying hands after handwashing. This is not a hygienic practice,

    The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

    Observation. *The furniture and equipment appeared to be in good repair. *CCFL observed a build up of debris on the floors and in the corners as well the carpets appeared to be dirty. *The washroom did not appear to have been cleaned or disinfected due to a ring of scum observed in the toilet bowl, dirty floors, sink and faucet. *The mini fridge in the kitchen was not clean inside.

    Observation. *The white bifold doors in the main activity room were observed to be unsecured. This is a pinch point. *The cord to the hepa filter in the nap room was loose and unsecured creating a possible entanglement hazard. *CCFL observed an unsecured flexible hose attached to the outdoor water faucet to the left of the main entrance door. As this type of hose is easily looped, it poses risk of entanglement. *An unsecured blue extension cord was observed on the ground by the gate that is to the left of the main entrance door. *CCFL observed that there was no gate at the bottom of the stairs leading up to the residential space on the main floor and the bifold door at the top of the stairs did not seem to be closed or secured.

    Observation. *Emergency preparedness supplies were observed to be blocking the narrow hallway between rooms at the bottom of the stairs that lead up to the resident's space.

    Observation. *CCFL observed 5 spray bottles with unknown contents within reach of children by the art sink in the main activity room. *The observed spray bottles were unlabeled creating the possibility of accidental mixing of cleaning chemicals (eg: vinegar and bleach when mixed together creates potentially lethal chloride gas).

    Implementation of the fire drill system is practiced at least once each month, and implementation of the emergency plan is practiced at least once each year. [CCLR Sec. 22(2)(b)(c)]

    Observation. *CCFL observed posted fire drill records that indicate the last practiced/documented fire drill was June 2023; prior to that the last documented fire drill was in June of 2022.

    Observation. *The manager indicated the heaters on the wall in the bathroom and nap room get hot when in use. The manager indicates there is a loose plan in place that involves using the heaters when children are outdoors and turning them off when indoors. While this item is not currently in non-compliance, CCFL requests the plan in writing. *A loose and unsecured cord was observed in the nap room. This poses the possibility of entanglement. *A can of bug repellent was observed in the yellow go bag that was accessible by children. *A set of string lights in the main activity were observed to be loose and unsecured. This poses the possibility of entanglement. *A blue extension cord outside was observed to be loose and accessible to children in the outdoor play yard. This poses the possibility of entanglement. *A soft flexible hose was observed to be loose and accessible to children in the outdoor play yard. This poses the possibility of entanglement. *A storage shed containing shears and other yard tools on the right side of the backyard has a broken lock.

    The entire outdoor play area is enclosed and constructed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and ensures that children are free of harm. [CCLR Sec. 16(3)(a)(b)]

    Observation. *The tall gate to the left of the yard was observed to be warped causing a finger pinch hazard. *A gap under the same gate is greater than 3.5 inches in some areas. This presents the possibility of an entrapment hazard. *The white trellis under the stairs outside has separated and children could easily slip into this area containing tools and an adult bicycle.
