    Observation. -During the inspection licensing observed that children are provided snack however the menu was not posted or available for parents.

  • PHYSICAL, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHING / EnvironmentNon-critical

    A healthy and safe environment is provided at all times [CCLR Sec. 13(1)].

    Observation. - In the Big Class: - Two wall dividers with wheels were unstable and were easy to tip and move, causing a potential tipping hazard for children. -Several long tables were observed behind the divider stacked against the wall and a stack of chairs were stacked horizontally. These items pose a potential tipping hazard for children. A discussion with staff revealed that plans are in the works to create a cabinet for these items. -The kitchen door was closed but unlocked allowing children access to lysol wipes located on a low shelf. - In the Small Class: - Unstable shelf in the corner of the room, which can pose a tipping hazard to children.

    Observation. -A care plan was in place however it was missing the location and expiry date of the medication.

    Observation. *The paint on the outdoor wooden structure was observed to be chipping off in some areas creating the possibility of paint chip slivers.

    Observation. *The exit doors at the back of the "big room" lead out onto an unfenced outside area very near W 41st Avenue. This could pose a safety issue should a child exit through the doors unobserved. *A set of stairs to the left of the exit doors at the back of the big room were observed to be unsecured allowing children access to unlicensed and unsupervised areas of the church.

    The entire outdoor play area is enclosed and constructed in a manner that is suitable for the age and development of children, and ensures that children are free of harm. [CCLR Sec. 16(3)(a)(b)]

    Observation. *The upper classroom windows run alongside a portion of the outdoor play yard. These windows appear to be single paned, regular & untampered glass and were observed to be directly at the children's level within their field of play. The windows provide the only barrier between the outdoors and a steep drop to the classroom floor below.
