A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

Observation. - High touch surfaces (i.e bathroom, cabinets and casing on the door) appear dirty and need to be cleaned. - Lysol wipes, garbage bags, 'Luv Fresh' air freshner accessible to children in the I/T classroom bathrooms - Cellphone charger wire dangling off the paper towel dispenser in the I/T bathroom - Cement brick being used to keep the basketball net upright in the 3-5 playground

Corrective action. Submit a corrective action plan.

A licensee, other than a licensee who provides a care program described as either Preschool (30 Months to School Age) or Group Child Care (School Age), must have in a community care facility a sturdy surface for changing diapers, located outside the food preparation area, next to (a) a covered container for soiled clothing.

Observation. Children's soiled diapers not being disposed in a covered container.

Corrective action. Submit a corrective action plan.

A licensee must notify the medical health officer within 24 hours after (a) a child is involved in, or may have been involved in, a reportable incident described in Schedule H while under the care or supervision of the licensee.

Observation. Licensee did not notify the licensing officer within 24 hours that a child was involved in or may have been involved in a reportable incident on January 9th.

Corrective action. Submit a corrective action plan.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.

Observation. - I/T classrooms and school age classrooms have a joint attendance, therefore attendance is not captured accurately for each classroom.

Corrective action. Submit a corrective action plan.

Observation. The following was observed: - Some damage to the wall in the I/T program - Play pen stored next to an outlet. The play pens 'peekaboo' zipper was opened, making the outlet accessible to a sleeping child - Cell phone charger cords placed in an unsecured drawer in the 3-5 program - No papertowel in the 3-5 program

Corrective action. Ensure there is a system to maintain a healthy and safe environment.

The licensee must (a) develop the care plan in consultation with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.

Observation. A random selection of children's files were reviewed. Out of the 10 reviewed, 1 file did not contain a care plan that was developed in consultation with the parent or any person requested by the parent.

Corrective action. Ensure children with allergies have a care plan on file.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (b) character references in respect of the person.

Observation. A random selection of staff files were reviewed. Out of the 6 reviewed, all 6 files did not contain references that were verified.

Corrective action. Ensure all staff files are complete.
