    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. - Toilet paper not put on the toilet paper holder. This is unhygienic as children touch the entire roll of toilet paper everytime they use the bathroom. - Wire for 1 Ikea night lamp not secured to the wall - Classroom doors are all made of glass that is not tempered. Licensing observed a child bang on the glass very hard. Should the glass break it may cause severe injury.

    Corrective action. Submit corrective action plan.

    Observation. - Mould growing on the caulking around the sink area and cabinetry - High touch surfaces on door casing, doors and door handles require cleaning

    Observation. Licensee did not notify the licensing officer within 24 hours that a reportable incident occured on December 17, 2025.

    Corrective action. Submit a corrective action plan.

    A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.

    Observation. - A child who does not attend this facility was in attendance for approximately 5 minutes. The child was not signed in or out and there was no record available A staff walked the child to the facility next door. - 4 children signed in to the school age program, however, there were 6 children in attendance - Children in the school age program are not signed out daily and there is no indication when they are absent.

    Corrective action. Submit a corrective action plan.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. The following was observed inside the facility: - Shelves used to store children's toys are starting to show signs of wear and tear. Duct tape has been placed on the edges of the shelves as well as porrous areas on the top of the shelf. These areas cannot be cleaned and sanitized efficiently. The following was observed in the outdoor play area: - 2 climbers in the GCC (30 mos to SA) are showing signs of wear and tear. Duct tape has been placed on the cracks of the climber to prevent further damage.

    Corrective action. Ensure the furnishings and equipment are in good repair.

    Observation. The first aid kits have insufficient supplies.

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. The following was observed inside the facility: - Staff were observed not following proper cleaning and disinfecting protocols for tables - A shelf in the GCC (School age) classroom was not secured to the wall - The door in the GCC (under 36 mos) classroom is porrous and not able to clean and sanitize effeciently. The following was observed in the outdoor play space: - Insufficient clearance around the swing and slide

    Corrective action. Ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided.

  • MEDICATION

    If a licensee has agreed with a parent to give a child any medication prescribed by a medical practitioner or provided by the parent, the licensee and his or her employees must ensure that the medication is (a) administered to the child in the amount and at the times specified by the child's parent or in the child's record or care plan. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing noted Antibiotic Ointment USP is applied on children. The Manager said parent permission was not obtained to administer the medication. The Manager removed the ointment from the First Aid kit.

    Corrective action. Ensure parent permission has been obtained for all medication including topical creams containing NPN or DIN numbers.

    The licensee must (a) develop the care plan in consultation with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.

    Observation. Licensing noted a child who has life threatening allergies. 1. A care plan was not developed in consultation with the parent or any person requested by the parent. 2. There was no emergency medication. The Manager said she was not aware of the allergy or medication required.

    Corrective action. Ensure a care plan is developed with the parents.

    Observation. A selection of staff files were reviewed. Out of the 8 reviewed, 1 staff had an expired criminal record check.

    Corrective action. Ensure staff files are complete.

    Observation. There was some yogurt and hot dog weiners out on the counter and not in the fridge. Upon touching the products, they were not cold and the staff stated had been out of the fridge for a couple of hours. The food still needed to be consumed.

    Corrective action. Ensure food is stored properly to prevent any illness that could occur.

    Observation. The bleach/water solution that is used for sanitizing was not made this morning and when one staff was asked about the ratios, they were not aware. There was a branch with thorns in the play area that was accessible to the children There was debris and garbage in the outdoor play space
