  A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

  Observation. Outdoor Space: Nails were observed sticking out of the fence. Some wooden planks on the fence were loose.

  Corrective action. The Licensee stated that the nails will be removed and the fence will be reinforced.

  Observation. Outdoor Space: Not sufficient play materials/equipment were available for children in care.

  Corrective action. The Licensee stated that more outdoor toys/games will be provided.

  Observation. 6 children's files were reviewed; 4 of them were missing their immunization status.

  Corrective action. The Licensee stated that children's files will be completed.

  Observation. The following items were accessible to children: cleaning supplies under the kitchen and washroom sink cabinet, plastic bags in the kitchen drawer; extension cord attached to TV was not secured.

  Corrective action. Please ensure that children have healthy and safe environment provided while in care.

  Observation. Review of two children files observed that one child was missing child's photo or digital image to identify the child in the event of emergency.

  Observation. A microwave was observed in the smaller playroom on a shelf easily accessible to children. Licensee stated that the outlet in the kitchen where it was is not working.

  Corrective action. Please ensure that the microwave is not in the playroom and accessible to children.

  Observation. The following was observed inside: -disinfecting product accessible to children -no toilet paper available for children -closet bi-fold doors presenting pinching hazard The following was observed outside: -rusty screw and other screws exposed on the playhouse used by children -broken toy pieces in the yard

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

  Observation. One staff does not have a criminal record check done through Victoria, BC. The Licensee explained they have applied on line for one already and this staff does not work alone with the children at all.

  Corrective action. Please ensure all staff have a cleared criminal record check prior to working with the children.

  Observation. There is a wooden play house in the yard that is not in good repair. Licensee is in the process of fixing it.

  Corrective action. Please ensure all outdoor play equipment is in good repair.
