  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

Observation. The following was observed outside in the backyard where the children play: -rubber anti-slip strip has come off one of the stairs to the yard posing a tripping hazard -along the west side of the fence there is a piece of wood with a nail exposed -along the south side of the fence there are two pieces of rusty rebar accessible on the ground -some yard tools are accessible -there are pieces of garbage strewn along the edges of the yard -a rat trap is in the corner of the yard accessible -there is a small, plastic climber with a slide that is in the backyard on the concrete. It does appear the Licensee has tried to address the issue by applying expanding foam at the bottom to support the fence but it is not an acceptable means to repair the fence.

Corrective action. Please ensure the fence is repaired/replaced to ensure it does not collapse into the yard and cause possible injury to staff and children. While the fence is in this state, please provide a plan of how you will ensure that the children are safe in the backyard.
