Observation. A cupboard under the sink was unlocked and is the storage location for cleaning materials

Observation. A responsible adult was working in place of ECEA. An ECE was on premise but not scheduled to work in the program.
Corrective action. Ensure that staff is scheduled according to Schedule E.

Observation. There are thorny weeds growing in to the outdoor place space that are accessible to the children in care.
Corrective action. Provide a safe environment by removing the thorny weeds accessible to the children.

A licensee must not employ as a manager a person who, at the time that the person is managing the licensee's community care facility, is also managing another community care facility.
Observation. The facility Manager is currently managing two community care facilities. Licensing discussed the exemption application process or appointing another manager for one of the facilities. This is a repeat contravention.
Corrective action. Ensure that a Manager is only managing one community care facility.
12020 - CCLR s.18 - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (b) character references in respect of the person.
Observation. Licensing reviewed two staff files. One file does not include documentation that character references have been obtained. The Licensee stated that the staff member is a new hire and reference checks have not been completed.
Corrective action. Ensure staff files are complete.

Observation. The fire extinguisher service date is July 2019. It needs to be serviced for safety check and recertification.
Corrective action. Ensure fire drill system is approved by local assistant within the meaning of the Fire Services Act.

Observation. The facility manager is also managing Flying kites- Wix Brown location. Manager said that Wix Brown location currently not in operation. Licensing staff discussed exemption request application or appointing another manger for one of the facilities.
Corrective action. Licensee must not appoint a person to manage two facilities.
