The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction. They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]
Observation. Licensing Officer observed that the surface of the children’s train table appears to be in poor repair. The tabletop image showed visible wear and fading, indicating that the equipment is not currently being maintained in good condition.

Observation. Licensing Officer observed the date of enrolment is not kept for five children's records. During the inspection the manager added the enrolment date for two of the children. For the remaining three children, the date of enrolment was still not recorded. In addition, the immunization status is not kept for one child.

Observation. Licensing observed the staff sanitizing, but not first cleaning the tables with soap and water. Staff explained that they had recently changed to Quats for sanitizing. Licensing also observed there is no thermometer in the fridge

Observation. Licensee observed there are pictures or digital images for each child, but they are either difficult to see or the picture has faded. Child's files are missing information, emergency contacts, out of town contact, medical insurance number, doctor contact.

Behavioural guidance is appropriate to the age and development of each child. [CCLR Sec.51(1)(a)]
Observation. On the dry erase board, there is a "Warnings" chart. A child (and later staff) explained that if a child does not listen after three warnings, their name is put on the board. IF this happens a second time, they get - "II" beside their name. If there is a third incident of not listening, the child will not be able to participate in an activity such as gym. As staff, it is expected that the behavioural guidance is appropriate in a group setting.

Observation. There are two children who require epi-pens and have care plans on site. One of the school age children admitted that she left her epi-pen at home. Staff were not aware that the epi-pen was not available and did not have a plan in place to ensure it is on site daily. It is also important to note that the epi-pen also contains a bottle of Benadryl, which the child stated they should take first. As discussed, it is not recommended by the MHO to use Benadryl as it may mask symptoms of an anaphylactic reaction (letter attached to with this report).

Observation. Children's lunch / snack kits are kept at their cubbies, LO checked many and noted that there were no ice packs and there is no fridge on site. Therefore, perishable food many be at room temperature for the entire day which could be a health hazard.
