Observation. Licensing observed the activity space inside the facility and the outside space both have limited amount of equipment and materials. The outside space had a number of large pieces of equipment, but no accessories to coordinate with the pieces of equipment. I.e. dishes for the kitchen and playhouse, sand for the sand box etc. There were toys in the storage containers, but children did not have access to these items.

Observation. Licensing Officer observed an outdoor riding toy where the seat was being held together by duct tape. Discussion took place with manager with regards to facility equipment being in good repair.

First aid kits are readily accessible to all employees, including while care is provided away from premises. [CCLR Sec. 23(2)]
Observation. LO observed that the first aid kit was not readily accessible when the children were in the outdoor play space. The first aid kit is stored in a cupboard in the laundry room. Discussion took place with manager with regards to the first aid kit including a child's epi-pen should go with the staff and children.

Observation. In the nap room, Licensing Officer observed 3 nap mats with bedding stacked up against the closet. The bedding was touching one another which poses a risk of cross contamination. Discussion took place with manager with regards to the storage of the mats and bedding when they are not in use.

LO asked manager how often the emergency drill is practiced and the manager shared that it has been talked about with staff but not practiced. LO advised that the requirement is the emergency plan is practiced with the children at least once each year.
