  Observation. Licensing observed an educator's CRC had recently expired.

  Observation. Licensing observed the licensee was not keeping a consistent log of all inspections, maintenance and repairs.

  The certificates, or copies of certificates, of early childhood educators and assistants are prominently displayed in the facility. [CCLR 11(4)]

  Observation. Licensing observed only the owner's certificates were posted. The two educators certificates were not displayed.

  Children are provided with a comprehensive and coordinated program of indoor and outdoor activities that is designed for the development and care of the children, and is appropriate for the age and development of the children. [CCLR Sec. 44(1)(a)(b)(c) and Schedule(G)]

  Observation. Licensing observed the activity space inside the facility and the outside space both have limited amount of equipment and materials. The outside space had a number of large pieces of equipment, but no accessories to coordinate with the pieces of equipment. I.e. dishes for the kitchen and playhouse, sand for the sand box etc. There were toys in the storage containers, but children did not have access to these items.

  Observation. Licensing observed that the facility had not documented an emergency drill at least once in the past year and the licensee confirmed the facility had not had an emergency drill practice in the last year.

  Prior to employing staff the manager has met with each person and has obtained the appropriate documentation. [CCLR Sec. 19(1)]

  Observation. During today's visit, LO observed the following: -staff immunization status has been obtained for 1 staff -a CRC application has been completed and submitted to the Criminal Records Review Program and facility is awaiting the CRC clearance letter. This issue remains in non-compliance.

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the licensee using a system established and maintained by the director of the early childhood educator registry [CCLR Sec. 19(4)(a)]

  Observation. Licensing Officer observed that a child with a life threatening allergy does not have a request for administration of medication form completed for the epi-pen.

  The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

  Observation. Licensing Officer observed an outdoor riding toy where the seat was being held together by duct tape. Discussion took place with manager with regards to facility equipment being in good repair.

• PHYSICAL, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHING / First AidNon-critical

  First aid kits are readily accessible to all employees, including while care is provided away from premises. [CCLR Sec. 23(2)]

  Observation. LO observed that the first aid kit was not readily accessible when the children were in the outdoor play space. The first aid kit is stored in a cupboard in the laundry room. Discussion took place with manager with regards to the first aid kit including a child's epi-pen should go with the staff and children.

  Furniture or equipment for sleeping is used by only one child at a time, is clean and comfortable, and is appropriate for the size, age and development of the children intended to use it. [CCLR Sec. 15(2)]

  Observation. In the nap room, Licensing Officer observed 3 nap mats with bedding stacked up against the closet. The bedding was touching one another which poses a risk of cross contamination. Discussion took place with manager with regards to the storage of the mats and bedding when they are not in use.

  Observation. Licensing Officer observed emergency supplies such as food rations are in place for children and staff however there were no water rations. Discussion took place with manager with regards to having water rations in place.

[CCLR Sec. 57(2)(b)]; A record for each child containing the name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status is not kept. [CCLR Sec. 57(2)(a)]

  Observation. Licensing Officer reviewed all records. The following was observed: -start date is not kept for 1 child -immunization status is not kept for 2 children -medical insurance plan number is not kept for 2 children

  Observation. Licensing Officer observed a fire drill system is in place and practiced each month. LO asked manager how often the emergency drill is practiced and the manager shared that it has been talked about with staff but not practiced. LO advised that the requirement is the emergency plan is practiced with the children at least once each year.
