    Observation. Licensing observed a fence entering the facility and a cage in the yard that is built around a man hole cover which have openings that are more than 9 cm (3.5 inches) and less than 23 cm (9 inches).

    Observation. Licensing Officer observed that emergency supplies such as food and water rations appear to be inadequate for children and staff. Discussion took place with regards to having adequate emergency supplies in place for up to 72 hours in the event of an emergency. Licensee provided with resources for Emergency Preparedness for Child Care Facilities.

    Observation. It was discovered the Licensee uses her personal cell phone for center communication. Reliable communication equipment is to be available in case of an emergency.

    Observation. It appears the staff are cleaning with water and sanitizing with bleach and water. Licensing pointed out that the staff are to use soap and water to clean and then bleach and water to sanitize as per the VCH procedures for cleaning and sanitizing

    Observation. Reviewing the policies and procedures the licensee has initiated the majority of the documents required by Licensing as per the Regulations and the Act Licensee to develop a documented an Emergency plan to mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency as well as an Active Play and Screen time policy. Licensing to provide a resource to assist.

    Observation. Licensing discussed with the Licensee the importance of daily attendance record indicating for each day whether the child is absent or present and the time of arrival and departure being documented. It is also important, as per the regulations, each child has their immunization status (CCLR Sec. 57), date of enrolment into the facility [CCLR Sec 57(2)(b)] and a record for each child containing a photograph or digital image of the child. Staff opened door for children to go outside and LO observed physical redirection as children were directed to put their hands on the small fence and line up. LO had discussion with staff regarding appropriate guidance strategies for the children in the program
