A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. Children’s bedding items are stored in a way that is touching one another promoting cross-contamination.
Corrective action. The licensee will store each child's bedding items in a separate bag and will store them in a way where the items are not touching.
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation. Insufficient emergency food supply and water in emergency kits. Licensing and the licensee reviewed having enough supply to sustain the whole child care group for at least 72 hours.
Corrective action. The licensee will add more emergency food and water to the kits.
13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.
Observation. 1/4 children missing MSP#.
Corrective action. The licensee will follow up with the family to obtain the missing information.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility.

Corrective action. The licensee will review her documents and fill out the missing information on the child's file.
19080 - CCLR s.57(2)(b) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation. 2/4 children are missing emergency contacts and 2/4 children missing doctor name and number. Licensing and the licensee discussed that an emergency contact must be an individual that is not the parent or guardian. It was also discussed that if families do not have a family doctor then walk-in clinic information is sufficient.
Corrective action. The licensee will follow up with families to obtain the missing information.
19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.
Observation. Staff missing immunization status
Corrective action. The licensee will follow up on obtaining the staff's immunization status.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (b) character references in respect of the person.
Observation. Staff missing documentation of verified references.
Corrective action. The licensee will obtain at least 2 references letters for this staff or contact references directly. If a verbal reference is given, then the licensee will document the date that the reference was contacted and notes about what the reference shared about the staff.
