- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): In one of the nap rooms, there was one adhesive repellant trap that was accessible to children. Upon notifying the staff, this was removed and is now inaccessible to children.
Corrective action. The facility will ensure that exposed adhesive traps are not accessible to children.
11200 - CCLR s.17 - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): One child was missing the name and telephone number of a medical practitioner. During the inspection, walk-in clinic information was listed.
Corrective action. The facility will ensure required information for all children is obtained prior to attendance.
19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): The manager's criminal record check is not specific to the organization. During the inspection, the manager applied to share her CRC with this organization.
Corrective action. The facility will ensure criminal record checks are specific to the organization.
12040 - CCLR s.19(1)(a) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation) Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): The manager's file was missing validation from the ECE Registry. During the inspection, this was obtained.
Corrective action. The facility will ensure all required information for staff is obtained before employment.
12140 - CCLR s.19(4)(a) - STAFFING
A licensee must ensure that children have at all times immediate access to an employee who (a) holds a valid first aid and CPR certificate, provided on completion of a course that meets the requirements of Schedule C.
Observation. Five staff with a first aid certification that was completed fully online which does not meet the requirements of Schedule C.
Corrective action. These staff will obtain a first aid certification that meets the requirements of Schedule C. In the meantime, the manager will ensure children have access to an individual with a valid first aid certification that meets the requirements of Schedule C.

A licensee must have first aid kits that are readily accessible to all employees, including while care is provided off the community care facility premises.
Observation. In one of the under 36 months programs, there is no instant ice pack in the first aid kit.
Corrective action. Please ensure all first aid kits are equipped with instant ice packs.
11220 - CCLR s.23(2) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): In one of the 30 months to School Age programs, there was a broken child-lock on the closet door that is being used to store staff's personal belongings. There is a potential that staff's personal belongings may include medication which were accessible to children. Upon notifying the Manager, a new child-lock was installed during the inspection.
Corrective action. Please ensure staff's personal belongings are not accessible to children.
11200 - CCLR s.17 - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. Across multiple programs, there are areas on walls with dents that expose the drywall and areas of chipped paint. As per the Manager, she has already followed up with the facility owner to address this.
Corrective action. Please submit a plan and timeline to Licensing regarding when these areas will be addressed.

- RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (b) the courses of action recommended by health care professionals to address the needs of the child requiring extra support. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): In one of the under 36 months program, there is a child that requires emergency medication. The emergency medication was available, but there is no care plan and/or medication adminstration form to accompany the emergency medication. As per the Assistant Manager, she has connected with the family to obtain this form and information. Before the end of the inspection, the care plan was emailed to the facility by the family.
Corrective action. Please ensure a current care plan is available for the child and the emergency medication.

Observation. Upon reviewing 10 children's files, 3 files had parents listed as the child's emergency contacts. An emergency contact should be an individual that is not the child's parents.
Corrective action. Please ensure that children's files are complete with required information.

A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (b) for each employee, the records required under section 19 (1) [character and skill requirements].
Observation. Upon reviewing staff files, Licensing observed the following: -1/8 files was missing a record of work history -1/8 had a criminal record check that was not site specific -3/8 staff were missing a minimum of two character references
Corrective action. Please ensure that all staff files are complete and site specific.
