  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. 1) 4 paint buckets underneath the deck that are accessible to children. Licensing was unable to open these buckets. 2) 2 areas of exposed construction plywood that are rough to touch and may cause splintering to children. 3) Rusty nails on wooden staircase are accessible to children. 4) Multiple areas with loose and chipping concrete and asphalt.

    Corrective action. The manager will ensure the following: 1) 4 paint buckets will be stored in a manner that is inaccessible to children. 2) 2 areas of plywood are addressed in a manner that is either inaccessible to children or addressed in a way that will not cause splinters to children. 3) Rusty nails are not accessible to children. 4) Areas of loose and chipping concrete and asphalt are cleaned up. Please submit a plan by July 11 outlining how the above will be addressed.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must supply equipment, furniture and supplies that are (b) located so as not to block or hamper an exit in the case of fire or other emergency. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): The second emergency exit is closed with a chain lock.

    Corrective action. During the inspection, the chain lock was released. The manager will ensure the chain lock is not used during childcare hours. Another type of lock (active-passage) that is approved by the Fire department may be used.

    A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.

    Observation. 1 child is missing an emergency contact.

    Corrective action. The manager will follow up with the family to obtain an emergency contact that is neither parent or guardian.

    A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility.

    Observation. 2 children are missing complete enrollment dates.

    Corrective action. The manager will obtain complete enrollment dates for the children that include, month, date, and year.

    A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.

    Observation. Multiple days in June and July where sign-out times for children were not recorded. For today, Licensing observed 6 children present yet only 4 children were signed in on the attendance sheet.

    Corrective action. The manager will ensure that sign-in, sign-out times, and absences are recorded for all children on a daily basis.

    A licensee must ensure that each employee (a) is trained in the implementation of the fire drill system and emergency plan described in subsection (1), including the use of any equipment noted in the fire drill system and emergency plan.

    Observation. Fire extinguisher is overdue for servicing.

    Corrective action. The manager will ensure that the fire extinguisher is serviced.

    Corrective action. The validation will be obtained and placed in the manager's file.
