  All indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are suitable for the age and development of the children, safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair. [CCLR Sec. 16(4)]

  Observation. In the outdoor play space, LO observed 2 sections along the wooden perimeter near the garden bed that have deteriorated and are no longer in good repair. The deteriorated sections pose a tripping hazard and concern for entrapment.

  Care plans are not reviewed at least once a year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent. [CCLR Sec. 58(2)(b)]

  Observation. LO observed care plans for 2 children have not been reviewed since November 2022.

  The facility, the furniture, equipment, fixtures and supplies are of sturdy and safe construction.  They are easy to clean, and are clean and in good repair and free from hazards. [CCLR Sec. 13(2) and Sec. 15(1)(a)]

  Observation. During the visit, LO observed the following: -in the classroom space and the nap room, the facility walls appear to be in poor repair and no longer easy to clean. There are several areas where the paint is chipped, peeling and the drywall is exposed. -in the classroom space, paint is chipped on the yellow table and the children's bookshelf. In addition, the white shoe rack is soiled, dirty and requires maintenance.

  Observation. In the outdoor play space, LO observed the the following: -yellow paint on the stair case and platform is chipped and peeling. Manager stated that there is a plan in place to have this corrected with the City. -a metal stool and adult sized chair on the deck area that appear to be worn, weathered the metal is rusting -paint is chipped and peeling on two wooden tables that are used to store the children's outdoor boots -deteriorating wooden stumps along the perimeter of one garden bed. Manager advised that there is a plan in place for the stumps with the play space architect.

  The licensee has written, parental consent to release a child to someone other than the parent. [CCLR Sec. 57(3)(b)]

  Observation. LO observed that 2 children's files where the parent(s) have listed themselves as the emergency contact. Discussion took place with the manager with regards to the emergency contact is to be someone other than the parent.
