Health & safety record

3 critical and 14 non-critical findings recorded since 2020.

November 3, 2025Routine Inspection1 critical, 4 non-critical
  • C3.2 - Are persons qualified and appropriately replaced?Critical

Observation. There was no evidence that the employee certificates have been verified by the director of the early childhood educator registry. Verification of certificates ensures that employees are qualified with the training necessary to care for children. This was corrected during the inspection.

  • C1.2 - Does the licensee operate the facility in a manner that will promote the health, safety and dignity of persons in care?Non-critical

Observation. A child’s Epi Pen, which is left at the facility in the event the child may require its use, is expired. In order to ensure the health and safety of children who may require the use of prescribed medications, the licensee must ensure that prescriptions are not expired. Submit by November 14, 2025, evidence that the child has a currently prescribed epi pen at the facility.

  • C3.1 - Does the facility have sufficient employees who possess adequate training and experience to meet the care, supervision, and needs of the children?Non-critical

Observation. There is no evidence indicating the employees have practiced implementing the emergency plan in the last year. The plan has been discussed and the educators are aware of what is required, however, the plan has not been practiced. Implementing the plan at least once each year ensures employees know what is expected of them in the event of an emergency. Submit by November 12, 2025, evidence that each employee has implemented the emergency plan.

  • C4.1 - Are facility records current and complete?Non-critical

Observation. All children's records do not contain identifying physical characteristics. Physical characteristics of a child can be used to readily identify the child in an emergency. Submit by November 12, 2025, evidence that all children's records contain the required information. A care plan is missing for a child who may require the use of an Epi Pen. Care plans for children with medical needs are required to be developed in consultation with the parent to ensure that children receive safe and supportive care as well as supporting employees to know how to respond to any symptoms of identified conditions. Submit by November 12, 2025, the care plan with evidence it has been developed in consultation with the parents.

  • C7.1 - Is the facility safe, sanitary, free from hazards, in good repair, and appropriate for the age and development of children?Non-critical

Observation. The depth of the protective surfacing under a piece of climbing equipment is inadequate with hard ground exposed. Falling onto the hard ground may pose a risk of injury to a child. Submit by November 12, 2025, how you have resolved the depth of the protective surfacing.

  • Is the facility’s radon gas level in compliance with the 200 Bq/m3 limit ?Non-critical

Observation. A recent report indicates that the radon levels in the gym room remain higher than acceptable. Mitigation is in progress. Licensing has been provided with the mitigation plan which appears to be successful, as indicated by the continuous radon reader that is deployed. A new 91-day radon test must be deployed during the winter months to provide an accurate reading.

  • C7.1 - Is the facility safe, sanitary, free from hazards, in good repair, and appropriate for the age and development of children?Non-critical

Observation. During the inspection the gaps between spindles and under the new gate measured greater than 3.5" creating a possible entrapment hazard. A way of reducing the size of the gaps is required by the follow up date. Several bottles of sunscreen were observed to be in a location that is accessible to children. These items were moved to an inaccessible location during the inspection. No further action is required.
