    Observation. Several daily play space inspections have been missed. To ensure a safe environment for children, thorough inspections of the play space are required so hazards can be identified and removed. This is a reoccurring contravention originally found out of compliance on June 20, 2023. Submit by June 6, 2025, a written plan to achieve and maintain compliance with completing the required inspections.

  • C3.1 - Does the facility have sufficient employees who possess adequate training and experience to meet the care, supervision, and needs of the children?Non-critical

    Observation. One employee has an expired criminal record check. To ensure the safety of children in care a clear criminal record for employees is required. This is a reoccurring contravention originally found out of compliance on February 16, 2023, and June 20, 2023. Submit by June 2, 2025, a written plan for how you are going to come into and maintain compliance while waiting for the criminal record check for this employee. Several employee records are missing evidence of compliance with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis program. In the event of disease outbreak a licensee is required to have evidence of employees complying with the Province's program. This is a reoccurring contravention originally found out of compliance on May 23, 2024. Submit by June 6, 2025, evidence that employee records are complete and a written plan on how compliance will be maintained.

    Observation. Several children records were missing the name and telephone number of a medical practitioner, and the date on which a child stops attending the facility. Having the name and telephone number of a medical practitioner for a child is required in the event of an emergency. This is a reoccurring contravention originally found out of compliance on February 16, 2023, and June 20, 2023. Submit by June 6, 2025, evidence that these files are complete with the missing information and a written plan on how compliance will be maintained. Several departure times were missing from the daily attendance. Accurate daily attendance ensures that employees are aware of the number of children in care. This is a reoccurring contravention originally found out of compliance on June 20, 2023. Submit by June 6, 2025, a written plan detailing how accurate attendance records will be maintained. A child's care plan did not contain evidence that the plan had been made in consultation with the parent. Consultation with the parents ensures the plan is current and the child will receive safe and supportive care. Submit by June 6, 2025, evidence that the care plan has been made in consultation with the parents and a written plan on how compliance with creating care plans will be maintained.

This is a reoccurring contravention originally found out of compliance on June 20, 2023. Submit by the follow up date noted the system created to come into and maintain compliance.

    Observation. A review of the staff files indicated some files were incomplete missing the following information: - One staff was working without copies of any diplomas, certificates or other evidence of their training and skills. - Evidence that employees have complied with the Province's immunization program. Submit by the follow up date noted the system created and implemented to ensure staff files are complete and compliance will be maintained.

  • C2.1 - Are written policies and procedures in place to guide employees in all matters regarding the care and supervision of children?Non-critical

    Observation. There is no evidence that employees have practiced implementing the emergency plan in the last year. To ensure the health and safety of the children in care in the case of a real emergency it is required employees know how to implement the emergency plan and practice at least once each year. Submit by the follow up date noted the plan to ensure staff are practicing the plan yearly.

    Observation. It was disclosed by the manager that children are unsupervised when they leave the gym area located on the upper level of the building to go to the washrooms located on the lower level of the building.

  • C7.1 - Is the facility safe, sanitary, free from hazards, in good repair, and appropriate for the age and development of children?Non-critical

    Observation. The Facility Licensing Officer observed 3 children on a ladder, which was attached to the gym wall, that was over the 7 foot height requirement for school age children. Thorough daily, monthly and annual play space inspections are not being maintained or recorded. Please ensure that all daily and annual play space inspections are completed and recorded. Licensing Officer will send a copy of the Director of Licensing Standards of Practice-Safe Play Space.

  • C3.1 - Does the facility have sufficient employees who possess adequate training and experience to meet the care, supervision, and needs of the children?Non-critical

    Observation. One staff was working with an expired criminal record check. One staff was working without copies of any diplomas, certificates or other evidence of their training and skills;

    Observation. A review of the children's records shows some are missing the name and phone number for a medical practitioner, all records were missing a space for the date of withdrawal, and a medical insurance plan number was missing. Written consent to call a medical practitioner or ambulance is missing from all of the children's records. Facility is licensed for two groups of School Age Care. One on the stage with a capacity of 10 and the other in the gym with a capacity of 20. The children begin the program outside all together as one group. At this time there is no evidence that shows when a child moves from outside to the group on the stage and/or the group in the gym. There were no photos or digital images of any children in the records. A child who would meet the requirements of needing a care plan does not have one.

    Observation. Observations: Licence, ECE Certificates posted, no changes to the structure or operation of the facility. Contravention: Manager name was not posted - Licensee posted manager name prior to the end of the inspection - This item is considered as corrected.

    Observation. At this time a lead in drinking water test is outstanding - This was requested at the initial inspection

    Observation. Observations: Written policies and procedures in place and available for staff to review. Contravention: Fire drills were practiced and recorded once in the past five months

    Observation. Facility has a master spreadsheet for children's files. A review of the spreadsheet shows that some records are missing Emergency Contact, Dr's name and phone number or immunization status Facility is licensed for two groups of School Age Care. One on the stage with a capacity of 10 and the other in the gym with a capacity of 20. The children begin the program outside all together as one group. At this time there is no evidence that shows when a child moves from outside to the group on the stage and/or the group in the gym.

    Observation. A review of the staffing files determined that Criminal Record Checks were missing for some staff. It is recognized that staff employed at the facility are also Educational Assistants with the School District. It is a condition of employment with the School District, staff must have current CRC's. It is a requirement that Criminal Record Checks addressed to the Agency or facility be on file for all staff.

    Observation. Upon arrival at the facility, the children were observed to be playing on the play structure. Upon inspecting the resilient surfacing at the time of inspection, the resilient surfacing was frozen solid.
