  • MEDICATION

    If a licensee has agreed with a parent to give a child any medication prescribed by a medical practitioner or provided by the parent, the licensee and his or her employees must ensure that the medication is (b) readily accessible to employees.

    Observation. During the routine inspection the licensing officer observed that one child who required a puffer and had a medical care plan for the administration of the puffer, had an expired puffer.

    Corrective action. Please ensure that medication that need to be administered is readily accessible to employees.

  • RECORDS AND REPORTING

    A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (a) the diagnoses relevant to the child's requirement for extra support, as made by health care professionals.

    Observation. During the routine inspection 7 children's files were reviewed and it was noted that one child who had a medical alert on file and required extra support, did not have a care plan on site.

    Corrective action. Please ensure that all children that are identified as requiring extra support, have a care plan on site.

    Observation. During the inspection it was noted 2 staff did not have proof of certificate on file.

    Observation. During the inspection the manager was only able to find an Active Play Policy under Licensing Document on the Ipad. All other policies and procedures related to care and supervision of children were not available.

    Corrective action. Please ensure all policies and procedures related to care and supervision of children are available to all staff.

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that all indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are (b) safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair.

    Observation. Upon inspection of the outdoor equipment, there was some rotted wood along the perimeter of the playground where a piece of wood stuck out posing a tripping hazard. There were also 2 rusty nails sticking out slightly that could catch on a child's foot,posing a tripping hazard.Photographs were taken.This is a repeat contravention.

    Corrective action. Please ensure all outdoor play materials accessible to children are safely constructed, free from hazards and in good repair.
