• OR SUPERVISION

  A licensee must ensure that children are supervised at all times by a person who is an educator, an assistant or a responsible adult.

  Observation. Licensing arrived at the facility while the children and educators were going outside. While arriving outside, a few children took off around the corner to play in the soccer box. One staff was taking attendance, one staff was supporting a child with diverse needs. One staff was new and did not know all the children and one staff was not aware that the children have taken off in the soccer box. Licensing intervened and asked staff to find out where the children have gone and to make sure they are supervised at all times.

  Corrective action. Ensure children are supervised at all times.

• POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

  A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

  Observation. Upon inspection of the emergency supplies it was observed that 4 boxes of crackers were expired.

  Corrective action. Please ensure that you have sufficient supplies to prepare, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (a) the diagnoses relevant to the child's requirement for extra support, as made by health care professionals.

  Observation. Upon reviewing the children's files and conversations with the manager it was noted that a child who requires extra support did not have a care plan.

  Corrective action. Please ensure all children who required extra support have a care plan on site. Care plans must be reviewed annually.

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (b) the courses of action recommended by health care professionals to address the needs of the child requiring extra support.

  Observation. During the routine inspection ad the review of the children's files it was observed that one child identified as requiring extra support did not have a care plan on site. The staff on site said that she had created a care plan for this particular child last year but she was unsure if the care plan was updated. Upon reviewing the facilities file a psychoeducational assessment was available in the child's file. The assessment was created on March 28, 2021. A care plan was not available for the child identified as requiring extra support. This is a repeat contravention from January 2022.

  Corrective action. Please ensure a care plan determining the course of action recommended by the physician and/or parents is created for all children requiring extra support.

  The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.

  Observation. Upon review of the children's files, 1 child did not have a care plan that had been reviewed with the parent within the last year.

  Corrective action. Please ensure children's files are up to date.
