A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

Observation. Areas of exposed drywall throughout the facility

Corrective action. The manager will develop a maintenance plan to address the exposed drywall

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

Observation. Licensing observed one unstable shelving unit.

Corrective action. Manager to secure shelf by correct by date.

A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)

Observation. Licensing reviewed three staff files of which two were missing verification.

Corrective action. Manager corrected this at the time of inspection by printing out verification for two staff.

Corrective action. uncovered electical outlets create a potential hazard, manager will ensure the outlets are covered

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.

Observation. care card number not available for all children

Corrective action. child is new to the country and the application is in progress, manager will ensure information is complete when the number is received
