• POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

  A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

  Observation. Some food in the emergency supplies had been eaten by mice.

  Corrective action. The manager will find an alternate way to store the food in the emergency supplies

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.

  Observation. Four Care Plans were not dated and therefore no evidence of being reviewed with the parent or anyone requested by the parent

  Corrective action. The manager will include a date on the care plan, and review care plans annually.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

  Observation. One Criminal Record check was unavailable to be viewed

  Corrective action. The manager will ensure Criminal Record Checks are available prior to staff working in the facility

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  In respect of a record referred to in this Division, a licensee must (a) keep in a single place at the community care facility the records referred to in sections 56 to 58.

  Observation. Licensing reviewed four staff files of which the following information was missing: Resume for one staff, two references and immunization status for one staff, criminal record check, resume, references and immunization status for one staff. Manager stated this information had been obtained and was kept at a location off site.

  Corrective action. Manager stated all information would be obtained from the off site location and brought to the facility.

• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.

  Observation. 6 children files were reviewed; 1 child's emergency contact was missing. Staff was not aware the child was missing the contact.

  Corrective action. Ensure all children have an emergency contact in case parents cannot be reached in emergency situations. Staff understands why we ask for another contact other than parents and will ask the family for an emergency contact.

• EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

  A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

  Observation. These two items were observed in the pebble pit ( outdoor play) space: unmovable large cement/concrete piece and a metal piece of equipment installed on the ground. This is tripping/ fall hazard

  Corrective action. Ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are in care. LO discussed re: safety consideration ,i.e. appropriate ground surfacing and loose fill materials for outdoor play space

  Observation. Facility's washroom policy/supervision plan was not implemented by staff.

  Corrective action. Ensure that all policies and procedures are implemented by staff.
