    Observation. The fire extinguisher was observed to be due for servicing. Ensure facility has a fire drill system that is approved as defined in section 2.8.3 of the British Columbia Fire Code.

  • C3.1 - Does the facility have sufficient employees who possess adequate training and experience to meet the care, supervision, and needs of the children?Non-critical

    Observation. At the time of inspection, there were no employee records for the volunteer. Ensure to obtain required records for a person who acts as a volunteer such as a criminal record check clearance, character references in respect of the person and evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.

  • C7.1 - Is the facility safe, sanitary, free from hazards, in good repair, and appropriate for the age and development of children?Non-critical

    Observation. At the time of inspection, the Licensing Officer observed that some hazardous items and equipment in the shed and outdoor play area were accessible to children (i.e. wood stain, axe, fire poker, rake, etc.). Ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to their health or safety.

  • C4.1 - Are facility records current and complete?Non-critical

    Observation. The Licensing Officer reviewed the children's emergency records. Some photographs were observed to be out of date. Ensure to keep a current photo or digital image of each child and other information that can be used to readily identify the child in an emergency. The Licensing Officer reviewed the facility's log of play inspections and found it to be incomplete. Ensure to keep a log of all inspections, maintenance and repairs.

    Observation. The facility closed for one week after a case of COVID-19 occurred. This is considered a service delivery problem and is a reportable incident. The licensee will submit an incident report as soon as possible. Care card numbers are required for all of the children as part of the child records. Care cards are missing at this time.

    Observation. Adult scissors and a stapler were found in a cupboard accessible to children. This was made safe during the inspection today.
