    Observation. - The evacuation kit contained expired food and inadequate supplies. Having emergency supplies readily available will help to minimize the emotional and physical impact on the children during any emergency. *Correct by: November 26, 2025.* - The annual practice of the large scale evacuation plan was not documented. In order to ensure that the plan has been practiced annually by the Licensee as required, the practice must be recorded. *Correct by: November 20, 2025.* The Licensee confirmed that the required policies and procedures for the facility were still in place and that they had not been revised or updated since the facility became licensed.

  • C4.1 - Are facility records current and complete?Non-critical

    Observation. - The children's registration and emergency information records were reviewed. Some information in the children's emergency records, such as a care card number, doctor/clinic contact information, and the contact information for an emergency contact was missing. To ensure that the Licensee has immediate access to the children's personal information in the event of an emergency situation and/or evacuation, this information must be complete and up to date. *Correct by: November 24, 2025.* Other records such as the daily attendance, minor incident logs, and the play space inspection log were reviewed and they appeared satisfactory.

  • C7.1 - Is the facility safe, sanitary, free from hazards, in good repair, and appropriate for the age and development of children?Non-critical

    Observation. - Some of the wooden slats in a fence panel that encloses the outside play space were falling down. To prevent injury to the children in care, ensure that the slats are secured in the panel. *Correct by: November 26, 2025.* - The fire extinguishers were not inspected in the past 12 months. In case of a fire, ensure that the fire safety equipment is in good working order and inspected annually. *Correct by: November 26, 2025.*

  • C1.1 - Does the licensee continually inform licensing of any significant changes to the structure or operation of the facility?Critical

    Observation. - The Licensee's Early Childhood Educator (ECE) certificate was not displayed. *Resolved during the inspection. It should be noted that the Licensee's ECE certificate was expired and was in the process of being renewed. The certificate, albeit expired, must still be displayed until such time that the renewed certificate is received by the Licensee.

  • C3.2 - Are persons qualified and appropriately replaced?Critical

    Observation. - The Licensee's ECE certificate was expired and the renewed certificate has not yet been received by the Licensee. In order to operate an In-Home Multi-Age Child Care program, the Licensee must hold a valid ECE certificate from the ECE Registry.

  • C10.2 - Are children supervised, and are employee to children ratios maintained?Critical

    Observation. During the inspection, the Licensing Officer observed 3 children in the care of the Licensee. - The minimum required staff to child ratio for an In-Home Multi-Age Child Care program is 1 ECE to 8 children. In order to operate an In-Home Multi-Age Child Care program, the Licensee must hold a valid ECE certificate from the ECE Registry. The Licensee's current ECE certificate was expired.

  • C6.1 - Are acceptable hygiene practices maintained?Non-critical

    Observation. - The Licensing Officer observed soiled items in the washroom that were not disposed of in a covered container. The Licensing Officer observed the children washing hands after coming in from outside and before lunch.

  • C7.1 - Is the facility safe, sanitary, free from hazards, in good repair, and appropriate for the age and development of children?Non-critical

    Observation. The Licensing Officer observed the following contraventions during the inspection: - The storage shed and the separate workshop containing hazardous products and objects were found unlocked in the outside play yard and accessible to the children in care. - The orange netting underneath the deck stairs in the outside play yard was loose, displayed sharp edges, and was accessible to the children in care. - Toys and other play objects were found within the 6 ft clearance at the bottom the slide on the climber. This 6 ft clearance is to allow for safe entering and exiting of the equipment. - A hanging cord was accessible to the children in the nap room. - Bins containing toys and other play objects were stored precariously in an open closet that was accessible to the children in the play room. - The hot water temperature at the washroom sink used by the children measured at 60°C. The hot water accessible to the children must not exceed 49°C.

    Observation. - Some child records were missing required information such as doctor/clinic contact information. - The Licensee's own child, who attends the child care facility after school, was not included in some of the daily attendance records. - The daily outside play space inspection/maintenance log was inadequate and not kept up to date.

  • C2.1 - Are written policies and procedures in place to guide employees in all matters regarding the care and supervision of children?Non-critical

    Observation. - The monthly fire drill record was not displayed in the facility nor was it available for the Licensing Officer to review during the inspection.
