Health & safety record

No critical violations on record. 12 non-critical findings noted since 2022.

November 12, 2024Routine Inspection4 non-critical
  • C7.1 - Is the facility safe, sanitary, free from hazards, in good repair, and appropriate for the age and development of children?Non-critical

Observation. Ensure heated water accessible to children is not more than 49° Celsius. At the time of the inspection Licensing's test of water temperature produced a result of 59.2° Celsius at the sink in the laundry/diaper changing room and 60.5° Celsius in the bathroom. At the time of the inspection there was not a system in place to record daily, monthly or annual inspections of the outdoor play space. Create an inspection log to be used daily, monthly and annually to ensure the play space and equipment is safe for the children's use. This requirement has been out of compliance at each past routine inspection.

  • C2.1 - Are written policies and procedures in place to guide employees in all matters regarding the care and supervision of children?Non-critical

Observation. Systems in place to ensure fire drills are practiced and recorded monthly are ineffective. Fire drills have not been practiced and recorded since July 2024. This requirement has been out of compliance at each past routine inspection.

  • C3.1 - Does the facility have sufficient employees who possess adequate training and experience to meet the care, supervision, and needs of the children?Non-critical

Observation. The Licensee’s system for ensuring that employee files contain all of the legislated requirements was noted to be ineffective. Licensing found staff files to be incomplete. Missing items included: references, work history, immunization status, a copy of ECE certificate and validation of certification, a valid first aid certificate and a criminal record check. This contravention was originally out of compliance since December 13, 2023 and continues to be out of compliance. This requirement has been out of compliance at each past routine inspection. Submit to Licensing all of the necessary records for any person used as substitute staff, including: - a clear Criminal Record Check from the Criminal Record review program, - 3 references, evidence of relevant training (20 hours), - record of relevant work experience - copies of any diplomas, certificates, or other evidence of person's training - status of immunization - current first aid certificate

  • C4.1 - Are facility records current and complete?Non-critical

Observation. It appears the system in place to ensure the children's files are complete is ineffective. The children's records were missing required information such as date of enrolment, immunization status, and other identifying features of the child to be used in the event of an emergency. This requirement has been out of compliance at each past routine inspection. Children's files must include: - name - gender - date of birth - personal health number - immunization status - parent's name and phone number - name and phone number of the child's physician - an emergency contact name and phone number - a list of chronic illness or allergies - a list of anyone not permitted access to the child - the date the child begins care at the facility and the date care is withdrawn - a photo of the child - a list of other features that can be used to identify a child in an emergency At the time of the inspection 4 children were present but only 3 children were signed in on the daily attendance sheet. In addition, past child's attendance record were observed to be missing some times of arrival and departure. Ensure children are signed in at the time of arrival and signed out at time of departure. This requirement has been out of compliance at each past routine inspection.

  • C7.1 - Is the facility safe, sanitary, free from hazards, in good repair, and appropriate for the age and development of children?Non-critical

Observation. The washer and dryer do not have working safety devices to prevent children from getting inside the front load machines. A child has been sleeping next to these machines. Ensure these are made child safe and remain that way during daycare hours. The kitchen drawer has small items accessible to children such as a lighter, small ear plugs, etc. This drawer must be made child safe so children do not have access.
