    Observation. Upon inspection, under the kitchen sink, there were multiple cleaning solutions stored and they were accessible to children. A child safe lock was observed but not applied. (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION)

    Corrective action. The Manager said she will ensure to always apply the child safe lock.

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. The following was observed during the inspection: -Two shelves over 4 feet were not anchored -An air conditioner was not anchored -A staff bag was accessible. This may present a potential hazard. Please correct this by July 28, 2023 -The landscape fabric under the swings in the outdoor play area was showing. This is a repeat contravention from inspection #CLAN-CFMMRC

    Observation. Licensing observed that the facility has installed two large cabinets and counters and the children no longer have access to this useable play space. Licensing was not informed of this structural change prior to implementing and this may impact the usable floor space used to determine the licensed capacity for the children in care.

    Corrective action. Please ensure to contact Licensing prior to making any structural change to the facility. A new floor plan is required to be submitted and a follow up inspection will be completed at a later date.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following: -A child requires medication due to an allergy. The medication authorization form listed the wrong form of medication. -Items with a drug identification number (DIN) were observed in the first aid kit. Medical authorization forms to apply these products was not provided by the parents

    Corrective action. Please ensure that medical authorization is provided by parents and that the information is accurate and up to date.

    Observation. Licensing reviewed the policies and procedures. Policies for behavioural guidance, screen use and active play were not observed.

    Corrective action. Please ensure to have a complete list of policies on site to comply with the legislative requirements.

    Observation. Licensing reviewed the staff qualifications checklist. A employee that is left alone with the children is listed as a student. It is unclear if the student possesses the sufficient 20 hours required to qualify as a responsible adult. No documentation was provided.This is a repeat contravention from inspection # CLAN-CFMMRC

    Corrective action. Please ensure to update the staff qualifications list to verify staff are trained and meet the criteria to qualify as a responsible adult.

    A licensee must ensure that any heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49° Celsius.

    Observation. The hot water tap in the classroom was measured at 54.2 Degrees Celsius. The legislative requirement is 49 Degrees Celsius.In discussion with the Manager she states the children sometimes wash their hands in the classroom. Please ensure active supervision is provided until this is corrected

    Corrective action. Please ensure the water is heated to no more than 49 Degrees Celsius to comply with the legislation.

    Observation. During the inspection Licensing observed the following: -several electrical outlet covers including a power bar had missing outlet covers. This is a repeat contravention from inspection # CLAN-C4TPQC -no soap was available for use in the boys washroom as the dispenser was empty. Please ensure this is corrected by June 22, 2022

    Observation. During the inspection the following was observed: -In the boys washroom there was a partial piece of floor tile that was loose and missing drywall and paint on one of the corners. This is a repeat contravention from inspection # CLAN-C4PTQC -the landscape fabric under the swings was showing. This could present a potential hazard.

    Observation. Licensing reviewed the record of fire drills completed. Three dates were not recorded for the months of August, April and May. This is a repeat contravention from inspections #SMOY-AZFUH4, #CLAN-B9XUKZ, #EGAU-BME2T2. In addition the emergency evacuation drill was not recorded. This is a repeat contravention from inspection # #SMOY-AZFUH4, #CLAN-B9XUKZ, #EGAU-BME2T2, #CLAN-C4PTQC.

    Corrective action. Please ensure you record fire drills on a monthly basis and an emergency evacuation drill on an annual basis.

    Observation. The staff qualifications checklist was reviewed. A certificate was listed for one staff and the Manager. In discussion with the Manager the certificate was a total of 8 hours in duration. She stated that other courses were taken but no proof was provided on the staff qualifications checklist. This information does not support the 20 hour qualification that is required to work as a Responsible Adult.

    Corrective action. Please ensure the staff qualifications list is updated to reflect that the minimum requirements for staffing are met

In checking the information online this was highlighted but no dates for the criminal record check were listed. The risk to health and safety of the children in care was discussed.

    Observation. During the inspection licensing observed a child sleeping on an armchair. Licensing and the Manager discussed age and developmentally appropriate furniture for the child to sleep on.
