A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility.
Observation. CCFL reviewed 10 children's files & 6 had missing or incomplete start dates.
Corrective action. All requirements of s.57(2) must be obtained by children's 1st day of care.
19080 - CCLR s.57(2)(b) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
The licensee must (b) review the care plan at least once each year with a parent of the child requiring extra support and any person requested by the parent.
Observation. A care plan was last signed in 2024.
Corrective action. Care plans must be reviewed w/ parents annually, followed by signing & dating the document.

- HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE
A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.
Observation. Licensing observed each child’s sleeping mat had a cover sheet, and the mats were stored by stacking them on top of each other. The staff confirmed that the mats are placed on the floor during nap time, and the cover sheets remain on the mats throughout the week and get send home on Fridays.
Corrective action. To ensure health and hygiene bedding on sleep mats needs to be kept separate. The Manager said she will purchase additional sleeping mats to use as dividers between each child’s mat when stored

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. Licensing observed the following: -Two cords were not secured. These were accessible to children. This is a repeat contravention from inspection #CLAN-CBJVPR -Staff purses/bags were located at the children's level. This is a repeat contravention from inspection #CLAN-CNPQ7J and #CLAN-BSCV6Y
Corrective action. Please ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times to the children in care.
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation. Two fire extinguishers were observed. The service date on the fire extinguishers was January 17th, 2024. Licensing observed the fire extinguisher was within the area of fully changed.
Corrective action. Please ensure fire extinguishers are serviced on an annual basis to ensure you are prepared in the event of an emergency.

A licensee must supply equipment, furniture and supplies that are (b) located so as not to block or hamper an exit in the case of fire or other emergency.
Observation. One of the exit doors was partially blocked with three large bins filled with emergency supplies. This is a repeat contravention from inspection # CLAN-BSCV6Y
Corrective action. Please ensure supplies and equipment do not block an exit to ensure a safe exit in the possibility of an emergency.

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. During the inspection the following was observed: -Four electrical outlets were missing. This is a repeat contravention from inspection # CLAN-CBJVPR. This was corrected during the inspection. - A staff purse was within easy reach of the children. This could cause a potential hazard. This is a repeat contravention from inspection # CLAN-BSCV6Y

Observation. Four staff records were reviewed. One staff record was missing a site specific criminal record check (CRC).
Corrective action. Please ensure staff CRC's are site specific.

A licensee must make available to parents information on the food and drink given to children.
Observation. During the inspection a snack menu was not observed. In discussion with the Manager she stated she does not have a system in place to inform families of the food and drink provided to the children.
Corrective action. Please ensure to let families know what food and drink are provided to their children.
17120 - CCLR s.48(6) - STAFFING
A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation. Four staff records were reviewed. One staff record contained an expired Criminal record check (CRC) from 2019. In addition the CRC was not site specific. In discussion with the Manager she stated that the employee had completed the CRC but was not site specific
Corrective action. Please ensure CRC's are current and site specific.

- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must supply equipment, furniture and supplies that are (a) of sturdy and safe construction, easy to clean and free from hazards.
Observation. During the inspection several wooden tables were showing signs of wear. The finishing was worn off and there were several indents in the table. The indents could potentially harbour bacteria.
Corrective action. Please ensure the equipment is safe and easy to clean and free from potential health hazards.
11080 - CCLR s.15(1)(a) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. During the inspection the following was observed in the facility: -a large shelf, over four feet tall was not anchored to the wall. This may cause a potential falling hazard -staff purses were open and within easy reach of the children. These purses may contain items that could cause a choking or poisoning hazard.
Corrective action. Please ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times.

A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation. During the inspection licensing observed rust on a fixture and several bolts in the outdoor play area. This could cause a potential health hazard. Licensing recommended practicing active supervision in these area until the rust can be fixed.
Corrective action. Please ensure children do not have access to any objects or substances that are hazardous to their health and safety.

A licensee must supply equipment, furniture and supplies that are (b) located so as not to block or hamper an exit in the case of fire or other emergency.
Observation. Licensing observed several boxes of emergency supplies blocking one of the exit doors.
Corrective action. Please ensure supplies are not located in front of an exit as this may block or hamper an exit in an emergency.

Observation. Ten children's records of twenty-seven were reviewed. Two children's date of enrollment were missing. This is a repeat contravention from inspection # CLAN-BC2K6T.
