Observation. emergency exit that is identified on the emergency evacuation poster was locked.
Corrective action. Ensure that emergency exits are not blocked or hampered.
11090 - CCLR s.15(1)(b) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that all indoor and outdoor play materials and equipment accessible to children are (a) suitable for the age and development of the children.
Observation. In the outdoor child care area there is a large trampoline that is not suitable for the age of the children.
Corrective action. Ensure that the play materials and equipment accessible to the children are suitable for the age and development of the children.
11180 - CCLR s.16(4)(a) - HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE
A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.
Observation. fabric towels were used to clean children's hands and are hung on hooks after each use.
Corrective action. Single use towels were not being used for children in care.
15030 - CCLR s.46(1) - LICENSING
A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility the certificate, or a copy of the certificate, of any educator or assistant employed to work in the community care facility.
Observation. An employee member who was working at the time of inspection did not have their certificate posted.
Corrective action. Ensure that each employee certificate is posted.
10070 - CCLR s.11(4) - STAFFING
The licensee must not permit a person over the age of 12 to be ordinarily present on the premises of a community care facility while children are present, unless the person is of good character and the licensee has obtained a criminal record check for that person.
Observation. A criminal record check for a person over the age of 12 who is ordinarily present is not available.
Corrective action. Ensure there are criminal record checks available for persons living in the home and for any person who is ordinarily present

A licensee must ensure that children have at all times immediate access to an employee who (a) holds a valid first aid and CPR certificate, provided on completion of a course that meets the requirements of Schedule C.

Observation. Two children over 36 months old have been attending the facility for 10 months; however, the facility only has a licence for an Under 36 Months program.
Corrective action. The licensee will provide a corrective action plan to address the contravention.

Observation. In discussion with the Manager she states that the facility provides fruits for afternoon snack. A menu was not observed in the facility.

A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation. During the inspection the emergency supplies were observed. Minimal food was observed in the emergency kit. This is a repeat contravention from inspection # CLAN-CCZNHD
Corrective action. Please ensure to have sufficient emergency supplies to be prepared in case of an emergency.

Observation. During the inspection the staff and Manager's records were reviewed. One references was missing for the Manager.
Corrective action. Please ensure the staff and Manager's records are complete.

A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation. During the inspection Licensing observed several bottles of rubbing alcohol, sanitizer and Febreeze on top of the cubby area. If a child were to stand in the cubby area these chemicals would be within reach.
Corrective action. Please ensure children do not have access to any objects or substances that are hazardous to their health and safety.
11200 - CCLR s.17 - POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation. Licensing reviewed the record of fire drills and annual emergency drills. An annual emergency drill was not recorded in 2021. In discussion with the Manager she stated the drill was completed last year but it was not recorded.
Corrective action. Please ensure to record the annual evacuation drill to ensure compliance with the legislation.
13050 - CCLR s.56(1)(c) - POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation. Licensing observed that their was insufficient food in the emergency supplies. Licensing recommends enough food, water and supplies for a period of 72 hours.
Corrective action. Please ensure that there are sufficient emergency supplies to be prepared in an emergency.
13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (h) any special instruction respecting the child's diet, medication, participation in a program of activities, or other matter relevant to the child's care, (i) given by the child's parent to the licensee in writing.
Observation. The first aid kit was observed. Items that had a drug identification number (DIN) were present in the kit. A permission form completed by the parent or guardian to apply these medications was not observed. This has been discussed at two previous inspections and written in the comments section of the reports.
Corrective action. Please ensure to obtain signed permission from the children's parent or guardian prior to applying any medication.

A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation. During the inspection the folowing was observed inside the facility: -Two bottles of bleach were placed within easy reach of the children. This was corrected during the inspection. -Benadryl and another medication were placed in a child's cubby. This could cause a potential poisoning hazard. This was corrected during the inspection. -Diaper cream was present at the children's level in their cubbies.
Corrective action. Please ensure children do not have access to any objects or substances that are hazardous to their health and safety.

A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation. During the inspection there was no documentation that monthly fire drills were completed. In discussion with the Manager she stated that the monthly fire drills had been completed but had not been recorded.
Corrective action. Please ensure to record monthly fire drills after they are completed to comply with the legislation.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation. Four children's records of eight were reviewed. One child's record did not have a medical practitioner's name or phone number. Licensing recommended a medical clinic name and number is listed in the absence of a medical practitioner's name and number. This is a repeat contravention from inspection # CLAN-BKL276.
Corrective action. Please ensure children's records are complete.

Observation. Licensing reviewed the staff records. One staff record did not have a site specific criminal record check. This is a repeat contravention from inspection # CLAN-BAXQ9J.
Corrective action. Please ensure criminal record checks are current and site specific.

A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. During the inspection the following was noted in the facility: -a bucket with water was located at the children's level in the washroom. This could cause a potential drowning hazard. -a bottle of bleach was accessible to children and was not labelled. This could cause a potential poisoning hazard. -one electrical outlet was missing an outlet cover. This could cause a potential electrocution hazard -a garbage can in the washroom was uncovered. This contained diapers and gloves. (This is a repeat contravention from inspection #CLAN-B7BR8N -some small toys were present in the facility including tiny cars. These could cause a potential choking hazard. This is a repeat contravention from inspection #CLAN-B7BR8N
Corrective action. Please ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times

Observation. Licensing observed that two certificates of three were posted.
