- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. There is a rip in the change pad exposing foam and making it difficult to sanitize.The extractor fan in the bathroom is very dusty and needs to be cleaned. A curled up foam mat by the daycare entrance poses a tripping hazard.
Corrective action. The manger will ensure that the change pad has no rips in it and that the fan in the bathroom is cleaned. . The foam mat was removed during this inspection.
11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. Mats in the nap room are touching each other increasing the risk of the spread of germs. Two sets of siblings are using the same diaper cream increasing the risk of spread of infection.
Corrective action. The manager will ensure children's nap mats do not touch each other and that each child has their own diaper cream.

A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation. There are not enough supplies for up to 72 hours for eight children. Supplies that are in the emergency kit are not age appropriate.
Corrective action. The manager will ensure that there are enough age appropriate supplies for eight children for up to 72 hours.
13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation. Contact information for a doctor or medical clinic was not available for one child.
Corrective action. The manager will ensure contact information for a doctor or medical clinic is available for all children.

A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed the following: -Bleach and water spray bottle accessible on the washroom counter. Corrected during inspection -A cupboard under the sink was unlocked and contained bags for diapers. Corrected during inspection -A plastic wrapping for toilet paper was observed in the shower and this was accessible to children. Corrected during inspection -A lawn mower was observed under the house. This could present a potential hazard
11200 - CCLR s.17 - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must supply equipment, furniture and supplies that are (b) located so as not to block or hamper an exit in the case of fire or other emergency. Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): During the inspection several highchairs were blocking access to the emergency exit.
Corrective action. Please ensure highchairs do not block access to any emergency exit to ensure a safe evacuation in case of emergency.
11090 - CCLR s.15(1)(b) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. During the inspection Licensing observed there were no paper towels in the washroom and there was no toilet paper
Corrective action. In discussion the Director stated she forgot to replace the paper towel and that the toilet paper was used for wiping the children's noses. In discussion with the staff the toilet paper was taken outside and used to wipe the children's noses. Licensing discussed the concern with toilet paper located next to the toilet in the washroom, being used for children's faces and the potential for cross contamination. Licensing recommends the use of tissue for wiping children's noses.
