The licensee must not permit a person over the age of 12 to be ordinarily present on the premises of a community care facility while children are present, unless the person is of good character and the licensee has obtained a criminal record check for that person.
Observation. Criminal record check for residents over the age of 12 who were ordinarily present were expired.
Corrective action. The Licensee said she will apply the criminal record check for the residents. The Licensee said the residents will not have contact with children while the CRC is under process.

- EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation. Licensing observed the following: -Two climbers in the outdoor play area were placed close together and one climber was observed next to a swing set. A 6 foot fall distance is required to be observed around a climber to ensure a safe fall zone. This was corrected during the inspection
Corrective action. Please ensure a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times to the children in care.
11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS
A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation. Licensing observed the following: -A sharp knife was located on the edge of the counter. A child placed their hand on the knife . Licensing removed the knife from the child's hand. This was corrected during the inspection.
Corrective action. Please ensure children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to their health and safety.
11200 - CCLR s.17 - POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation. Licensing reviewed the record of fire drills. Three drills were practiced but not recorded for the months of November, December and July.
Corrective action. Please ensure to record fire drills after they are completed to comply with the legislation.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.
Observation. Licensing observed the attendance records. Two new children that were in the process of completing gradual entry to the program were not recorded on the attendance record. This is a repeat contravention from inspections# CLAN-BB3T6G and #CLAN-C6QP3W
Corrective action. Please ensure any children that are in attendance at the child care facility are recorded on the attendance record.

Observation. Four children's records were reviewed. One child's record was missing an MSP number.

A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.
Observation. The attendance record was reviewed. Six children of eight children in attendance were recorded as present. In discussion with the Licensee she stated that the parents were responsible for the attendance. Licensing reminded the Licensee that the facility is responsible for ensuring the attendance is completed. This was completed during the inspection. This is a repeat contravention from inspection # CLAN-BB3T6G.
Corrective action. Please ensure the attendance records are complete.
19090 - CCLR s.57(2)(c) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation. Four children's records were reviewed. Two children's records were missing the name and phone number of a doctor or medical clinic.
Corrective action. Please ensure children's records are complete.
19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - RECORDS AND REPORTING
In respect of a record referred to in this Division, a licensee must (a) keep in a single place at the community care facility the records referred to in sections 56 to 58.
Observation. During the inspection eight children were observed at the facility. One child's record was not observed at the facility. In discussion with the Licensee she stated that it was the child's second day at the facility and she was only attending for one hour. The serious risk to health and safety for the child in care was discussed with the Licensee. At the end of the inspection the parent dropped off the child's record.
Corrective action. Please ensure children's records are at the child care facility when the child is in attendance

A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation. The following was observed inside the facility: -paint chips on the walls -drywall exposed -duct tape was in place between the carpet and the tile floor to cover a crevice. Installing a tranfer strip was recommended -wear and water damage was observed in the laminate countertop (please correct by June 25, 2020) -chairs with paint chips -a stool had water damage -shelving edges had paint chips
Corrective action. Please ensure the facility and equipment are in good repair.
