    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. -A large hole was observed in the ground in the outdoor play area. This could present a tripping hazard This is a repeat contravention from inspection #CLAN-DEXMT4. -A garbage can did not have a lid. This is a repeat contravention from inspection #CLAN-DEXMT4. -Climbers were placed next to the house and the fence. A six foot fall distance must be around the climber to ensure the safety of the children

    Corrective action. In discussion the Director said the hole was fixed last year. Please ensure to inspect the outdoor play area on a daily basis and correct any concerns. The Director said a new garbage can has been purchased

    A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.

    Observation. -A dent was observed in the laminate flooring. Tape was covering the dent as some pieces of laminate were loose.

    Corrective action. The Director placed a mat over the dent in the floor. In discussion this is a temporary measure and the floor must be repaired

    A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

    Observation. Licensing observed the following during the inspection: -Three electrical outlet covers were missing. This was corrected during the inspection. -Some areas in the outdoor play areas have holes where plastic netting is exposed. Please correct by April 27, 2025 -A garbage can did not have a lid. This must be covered

  • EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS

    A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.

    Observation. During the inspection Licensing observed the following: -Diaper cream beside the sink was within the children's reach. This is a repeat contravention from inspection #MZIN-D22VHJ. This was moved during the inspection. -A garage door adjacent to the outdoor play area was accessible and unlocked. This contained paint cans, a lawn mower and two chemicals marked:keep out of the reach of children. Chemicals were located to a higher shelf. In addition an uncoiled hose was observed. -Rust on a gate could present a potential hazard. Please provide active supervision in the area until this is corrected. -An unlocked cupboards contained staff bags. This could present a potential hazard.

    Corrective action. Please ensure children do not have access to any objects that are hazardous to the children's health and safety

    A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.

    Observation. Licensing observed a staff changing a child's diaper on the padded floor in the washroom. The staff did not disinfect the area after use. In discussion the staff did not wash her hands after changing the child's diaper

    Corrective action. In discussion the staff stated she cleans the area twice a day. Licensing reviewed the facilities' hygiene procedure for staff located in the policies and procedures with the Manager. Licensing discussed the importance of following the policy of cleaning the diaper surface immediately after changing each child's diaper and washing their hands to ensure health and hygiene is maintained. Licensing recommended the centre use the designated diaper changing mat rather than the padded floor to reduce the potential for cross contamination.

    Corrective action. Ensure these items are stored in a place not within reach of children.

    Observation. Licensing observed that one staff had a CRC on file that was from a school they attended for their education. CRC's should be from the Criminal Record Review Board and should be under the facility's name. The licensee said that they have connected with the Review Board.

    Corrective action. Ensure that the file is complete with the proper CRC documentation.
