• RECORDS AND REPORTING

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.

  Observation. One child missing MSP#. As per the Licensee, she has connected with the family to obtain this information. The family is new to the country and awaits the MSP#.

  Corrective action. The Licensee will have the parents fill out this missing information once obtained.

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.

  Observation. One child missing doctor name and number. As per the Licensee, she has connected with the family to obtain this information. Licensing and the Licensee discussed walk-in clinic information as being sufficient if families do not have a family practitioner.

  Corrective action. Please ensure all required information for children is obtained before starting at the facility.

Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): One child missing an enrollment date. Upon notifying the Licensee, the enrollment date was documented during the inspection.

  Corrective action. Please ensure all required information for children is obtained before starting at the facility.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.

  Observation. One staff with a valid criminal record check addressed to another facility. As per the Licensee, she has applied to share the CRC with her organization and awaits the results.

  Corrective action. The Licensee will ensure that staff's criminal record checks are addressed to her organization.

• STAFFING

  A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility as (a) an educator or an assistant unless the person holds a certificate issued under Division 2 [Employee Qualifications], which must be verified by the system maintained by the early childhood educator registry. (Educator or assistant certificate validation)

  Observation. One staff without a validation from the ECE registry and validation on file for the Licensee is for the previous certification.

  Corrective action. The Licensee will validate the staff's certification and place the validation in the staff's file. The Licensee will validate her current certificate and place the validation in her file.

  Observation. Licensing observed a bottle of air freshner available in an unlocked cabinet under the sink in the bathroom labeled "keep out of reach of children". The air freshner was accessible to children.

  Observation. Licensing reviewed the attendance record and observed one child had not been signed out that day.

  Observation. Licensing observed that the fire extinguisher has not been serviced annually.

  Corrective action. Please ensure emergency plan sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

  A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.

  Observation. Licensing observed that each child's time of arrival and departure from the facility have not been recorded yearly.

  Corrective action. Please ensure there is record of children's time of arrival and departure from the facility.

  A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (f) a log of minor accidents, illnesses and unexpected events involving children, that did not require medical attention and were not reportable incidents described in Schedule H.

  Observation. Licensing observed that the facility has a bounded minor incident log but no records have been documented. The manager confirmed that minor incidents have previously occurred but not have been recorded. Education was provided on the intent and purpose of a minor incident log.

  Corrective action. Please ensure that a log of minor accidents, illnesses and unexpected events involving children, that did not require medical attention and were not reportable incidents described in Schedule H.

(Educator or assistant certificate validation) Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed that the 1 staff file was missing evidence of a licence validation. Education was provided and the manager completed the validation during the inspection.

  Corrective action. Please ensure all children that require a care plan, have one completed on file and it is reviewed annually with the families.
